   About Kesang Marstrand
"Kesang is an exceptional songwriter. she has a voice that is nothing less than heart-stopping with its clear beauty."

- Michael Erlewine, All Music Guide founder

"There’s an exotic nature to her songs that goes far beyond just her unusual name."

"...music that is beautiful, delicious, effortless and almost floats on air."

- Craig Bonnell, songsillinois.net

Though classified as folk, Kesang Marstrand’s debut album, Bodega Rose, both transcends traditional labels and bridges the borders between them. Half driving acoustic jazz tracks and half melancholy story-songs, Bodega Rose is a striking first album, filled with poetic lyrics and not only heartfelt but talented arrangements. On Rose, Marstrand implements few instruments other than her acoustic guitar, saving piano, gently tapped drums, and a melodica for a few jazzier tracks. Perhaps it’s for the best, as this paring-down serves to better showcase her voice. Tinged with bittersweetness, it evokes the smoothness of Eva Cassidy and a brighter Fiona Apple, floating along the top of skillfully-picked guitar melodies. It comes as a surprise that Bodega Rose is Marstrand’s first effort. On the record, she has a poise and unpretentious confidence about her sound that often takes decades to cultivate. Expect to see more from this up-and-comer.

-Rosa Jurjevics, Buzzine

KESANG MARSTRAND: Bodega Rose

After discovering her passion for music via a piano in the common room of a schoolhouse in Colorado, Kesang Marstrand knew that it would be an inseparable part her life. As a teen, she entertained the hope of one day becoming a classical pianist and composer, but her family's move to New York City while she was in high school prompted her to exchange the piano for the ever-more-mobile acoustic guitar. Born in Woodstock, New York, to a Danish mother and Tibetan father, the young musician sought out inspiration that was as varied as her cultural background. With artists like David Bowie, Patsy Cline, Ani DiFranco, and classical artists, both Eastern and Western, to guide her, she began to write her own songs and to explore the possibilities her guitar and voice offered her. Now 27, Marstrand has been writing and performing for the past decade. In November of last year, she released her debut album, "Bodega Rose," a contemplative, acoustic work that includes accompaniment by renowned musician and composer, Karl Berger. The album, in addition to eleven original tracks, also includes a cover song, a sparse, down-tempo version of Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson's collaboration, "Say Say Say." Marstrand now divides her time between New York City and Seattle, where she continues to create new material… Her next project will be an album of original lullabies entitled, "Hello Night."

i'm writing a story, it's sort of science fiction fantasy, sort of apocalyptic, it's about an invisible planet passing through, 2010 is when the story takes place, so i have to write the novel quickly,

kroabot (on twitter) has just declared, to protect and to service when the invisible planet passes thru, in 2010, and the resulting catastrophic global events to follow, but not to say that there isn't room for miracles and enlightenment at the same time,

Kalsang.. I LOVE your Bodega Rose CD. I've been listening to it all weekend, chilling out.  My favorite songs are Say, Say, Say and Bodega Rose, but of course they are all great!

JoAnne(my mom) loves it too.  She's very impressed with your voice and guitar skills.

  All the best, Leah :)

i play base, drums, and KORG keyboard.  Occasionally i play saxophone or clarinet.  I need to have a stable, good paying career, so i can get my daughter Star back.  This experimental pop music is my strength.  Please support my music career with your prayers, so i can afford to support my family, and get my daughter back (Star's picture is in my profile pics)
here's a video of me and my daughter Star from 6 months ago, she's brushing my teeth for me

woke up with hummingbirds buzzing around the campground again. I heard of a grocery store called Burmac on a farm land. It had peacocks and roosters in the feeding area. The peacocks make a funny sound like a really loud cat or monkey. It sounds like zoo animals.
all this nature and meditating in the fresh air is making me have deep lucid dreams (olive skin, white tennis miniskirt) did you have any dreams?

i like watching the deer eat breakfast in the morning.  They eat leaves and other shrubbery.  The chipmonks were really cute, and fast.  Their tails stick straight in the air.  I've been watching crows interact with squirrels too.  Have you had any spiritual or religious experiences with nature lately?

hi, this is Kurt in Provo Utah, USA. The mountains are pretty, and the air is crisp and dry at night. I'm looking for a new kind of business, the business of brainwaves. Or some future technology. Do they have Nanotechnology at your school? I'm trying to plan ahead to future careers. My job went bye bye, and i haven't worked for 2 months. I have experience as a travel agent (tourism), and customer service. I would like to expand my career into some of my other talents, such as photography and music. What kind of dreams do you have for the future?

it's kind of a weird page, but it's my youtube channel, http://www.youtube.com/kroabot where I explore comedy/art/music in a mixture of saxophone solos performed for stuffed animals, random babbling conversations with myself, and some playful home videos with my family.  Hope you enjoy this, and remember this was me 2 or 3 months ago, I'M A LOT DIFFERENT NOW! (that was old school, i'm all grown up now) lol ^^
