I'm a collection of short stories that Dzanc Books is publishing on October 23, 2007. I'll be their first title, and Roy Kesey's second book, following his fantastic novella, Nothing in the World.
Are you interested in audiobooks? I was wondering whether you had a minute to check out my shortstory “Sofia in the Sand”. You can listen to the narrated text of the story on my profile. If you hate german accents ;) you should read the story in my blog, just a mouse click away...
The german version of “Sofia in the Sand” originated as the result of a writing competition of the travel section of the “taz” (a German daily newspaper) that appeared in the concurrent anthology of beach stories (“Strandgeschichten”) by Hans Schiler Publishers. Also on the literature portal “Titel-Magazin” as well as in “Footage – Magazin für Fußball und Popkultur” (a magazine for football and pop culture). What would one call something like this? Perhaps a mini audio book or an audio short story. Cheers, seb.
“So compassionate literature can be! A beautiful miniature story with a big final, clearly written. Light – and slightly melancholic.” (Editorial department of the “Titel-Magazin” about the german vesion of “Sofia in the sand")
Just wanted to remind your writer friends about Hidden River Arts $1000 prize in fiction and playwrighting. Deadline for submission is approaching June 20, 2007. See www.hiddenriverarts.org for details, application materials.
Thanks so much for the add. My first novel, "achieving umami," has just been published and I'm trying to get it out there. I'd love for you to read it and let me know what you think, comments, messages, thoughts. Check out my myspace page on where to buy it. Thanks so much---Josh Conley
The rust holes, the cigarettes, the sparkling quote from Peter Ho Davies, the weird burned waffle-thing on the bottom . . . how can this book not win Roy the National Book Award? And not a moment too soon. Congrats, Roy.
