About me:
When I choose to list my labels, I claim performer, writer, critic, academic, queer, transgender butch, theorist, cynic, pessimistic optimist, activist, and artist at the top of my list. I have a BA in Theatre and Anthropology, and will soon be starting my MA in Performance Studies at NYU. I'm fascinated by the performance of Other (in many possible permutations), among other things.

I have appeared on-stage at conferences, colleges, and local theatres. I was an ensemble member in “The Language of Paradox,” a performance group directed by Kate Bornstein. Also, I'm beginning to be recognized as a fresh and insightful theatre critic, with work regularly appearing at stageandcinema.com.

XY(T), my one-queer-show, had it's world premiere in Portland, Oregon in April, 2007, and its NYC premiere as part of the FRIGID Fringe Festival in February/March 2008. Here are some nice things people have had to say about it:

"XY(T) calls attention to the spectacle of masculinity and demonstrates the instability of categories of gender. Kestryl Lowrey gives a provocative performance that forces the theatergoer to consider the effects of a gender construct on an entire nation of people." - - New Theater Corps

"Brave [and] heartfelt... [Kestryl] simply strips away many of the assumptions we hold about gender and identity, and tells us what it's like to live the life he lives. [Kestryl] definitely has a story to tell." - nytheatre.com

"Kestryl's show concerns gender orientation, and by the end of the show, you'll likely be completely disoriented about the subject...excellent, funny, educational, eye-opening, profound and essential." - John Topping, stageandcinema.com

Included in GO MAGAZINE'S The very best of NYC performance, comedy, theatre and special events. - GO Magazine

Currently, I'm looking for opportunities to bring this show to more cities than Portland or New York (and I'm not opposed to putting it up again in either of these locales either!). If you want to see me soon on a stage near you, lets talk.

Oh, and I in New York City with my partner, Sassafras, two puddle-shaped-cats, and a bratty princess gerbil… err, chihuahua.

And, lest I forget, my website: PoMo Freakshow!
Who I'd like to meet:
...as I say in XY(T), "queers and queens, fags and feminists, dykes and deviants, perverts, pornographers, and any ladies or gentlemen who have stumbled in here accidentally..."

Also, radicals and rabble-rousers, pirates and pariahs, outcasts, devils and angels, kindred spirits, sideshow freaks and circus performers, shameless folks, fellow performers, poets, dreamers, artists, auteurs, theorists, thinkers, revolutionaries, etc...

Oddly enough, if you took the show to my little town at least, you would have one hell of a great reception. But then again, that's why I love Moscow so much. I should talk to our "novelty" shop and get them to host you if you ever come back to visit.

I want to go seeeee! You moved entirely too far away, just when I got a cousin I could agree with, *grin*. Anyway, in other news, I love the picture, and I cannot wish you enough good fortune for your show.

Awesome, break a leg; I'm sure it will go over well. I'm currently working at a bank, though I'm looking for RD jobs at the moment, so we'll see what happens. I find out about a position at LC tomorrow, so I might be moving back to campus for a few months, hooray.
