Music
SOME MUSIC TO ENJOY WHILE YOU'RE HERE!
Turn the 'tape' off if you want to watch the Videos!
Music I like covers a wide expanse, though much of it does come from Bands/Artists who started in the late 60's/early 70's. So music of note includes our 'local lads' (as I was growing up) Led Zepplin & Black Sabbath.
Undergound Artists such as the Pink Fairies & Steve Peregrin Took (Co-Founder of Tyrannosaurus Rex with Marc Bolan).
Movies
LOVE: The Wicker Man (AND I DON'T MEAN THE REMAKE); Lord of the Rings (I; II & III). Good Sci-Fi & Fantasy.
Good British Films from ones like 'The Full Monty' through 'Train Spotting' to 'Sean of the Dead'. 'Brazil'. The Monty Python Films (especially 'The Life of Brian').
Classic Films including things like 'Zulu'; 'The Man Who Would Be King'; 'Quatermass & The Pit'; 'Twelve Angry Men'; The Dirty Harry Films. The two Conan films (what a tragedy we didn't get more - & to be a pedant - it's a shame Conan wasn't portrayed with the 'Volcanic Blue Eyes' he should have had!). The Star Trek Films. OK a bit 'dated' now but wonderful at the time they were released & others too numerous to name individually. Plus the Legendary Silent Films of Buster Keaton!
US Films such as 'Fahrenheit 911' & 'Bowling for Columbine'. Good US films including 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Dusk 'till Dawn' (I).
FEE'S FAVOURITE FILMS: Include many of mine (But not the 'War Films' Genre). BUT but also some completely unbelieveable ones including (in vague order of my dislike - worst at the end - although I leave the room for most of 'em!): 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'; 'Little Shop of Horrors' (The Musical); 'Labyrinth'; 'The Wizard of Oz'; 'Bugsy Malone'; Grease'; 'The Sound of Music' (?????!!!!) & even 'Mary (Bloody) Poppins'. Holds hands in head in disbelieve - "Women Eh???!!!"
HATE: Bad Re-Makes (such as the Wicker Man). Poorly cast films including Judge Dredd (Stallone? Judge Dredd could actually 'talk'!!! & as EVERY 2000 AD ready knows Dread was based on Clint Eastwood's 'Dirty Harry').
Films which almost entirely disregard the original book upon which they are based! Too many to name individually although the 1984 version of 1984 is one which sprung to mind do to the 'TV Section' below! Plus most of Fee's 'Fave's' (see above!)
Television
FICTIONAL TELEVISION
LOVE: Those loosely termed 'Sci-Fi': First off - Dr. Who (All of 'em although There was a significant 'drop' in 'Doctor Quality' with the arrival of 'the vet'. The 'tide turned' with Silvester McCoy). Blake's Seven; & other 'Classic' UK Sci-Fi (based) programmes & series including 'Quatermass'; 'Doom Watch'; & 'Red Dwarf'.Star Trek! The Original through! Weakest were 'Voyager' (though worth it just for '7 of 9') & 'Enterprise' with its considerable 'Plot Holes'.
Classic UK Comedy including Monty Python; 'Hancock' & 'Hancock's Half Hour'; especially the 'take-offs' of the film 'Quatermass & The Pit' ('Hancock & The Pit') & Hancock's 'take' on the Classic 'Twelve Angry Men' Henry Fonda Film!
Good British Dramas including the 1954 BBC 'Play' of Orwell's 1984. The BBC serialisation of Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World' (so much of which was 'lifted' for the film 'Logan's Run'). Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes! A man born for the part!
Dramas based on some fact (Historical or otherwise). The classic of which MUST be 'I Claudius'. The recently shown 'Life of William Hogarth' based on his works entitled 'A Harlot's Progress'. 'Waking the Dead' & 'Judge John Deed'. 'Taggart' (from the first to the most recent - well done to them for keeping it going even after 'Taggart' died!). More recently in this vein, the series 'Life On Mars' certainly reflects like, and the police as I remember it (and them) in the early '70's.
HATE:
ALL Soaps; 'Reality TV'; 'Make a 'Star' out of no bodies' programmes. 'The Office'; & in general most US Programmes, particularly things like 'Friends' & Seinfeld.
FACTUAL TELEVISION
LOVE: Question Time & other Good Political Investigative & Discussion Programmes. Good Documentaries. Factually Accurate Historical Dramas (detailed above). Factually Accurate Historical & Archaeological Programmes aimed at people with more than half a brain! Very recently the REAL STORY of the 'abdication' of 'The Peoples' King' - King Edward VIII.
HATE: Allegedly 'factual' programmes which are the TV equivalent of 'The Sun' Newspaper. Biased 'factual' programmes including 'edited' News Reporting. Factually Inaccurate Historical & Archaeological Programmes. Factually Inaccurate Historical Dramas. Anything basically which is 'pap'!
Books
J.R.R. Tolkien - Lord of the Rings. Michael Moorcock - 1970 - 1980 (too many list them individually). Robert E Howard (and associates) - Conan the Barbarian. Mick Farren (factual & Fiction). Aldous Huxley. Plus many others which time has preveted me from listing.
Heroes
J.R.R. Tolkien. The Mighty Tharg (200AD). Vivian Stanshall. Others that I've been too busy to add!
The Dolmen's New Single Bringing the Outside In is released today - the 1st December. Check Out the Hot Love-style 'La La La La La La's.
The Video (below) shows the band at the Children of Artemis's Witchfest in London playing the song for the second time ever, so it isn't at all 'polished'. They are accompanied by the 'Tribe of Kismet' who are the Children of Artemis's very own Belly Dancers.
How FAB will this be if this single can make it into the 'Indie Charts' - Imagine if it's the Christmas Indie #1? How Fan-Tastic, especially when it can be bought for the princely sum of 80p (and they take credit/debit cards & Pay Pal too). So why not 'splash out' (LOL)
PLEASE BUY IT THIS WEEK - TO MAXIMISE IMPACT ON THE INDIE CHARTS!

STEVE PEREGRIN TOOK
Yes, the 'Bloke with the Bongos' from Tyrannosaurus Rex. My wife Fee is currently researching Steve Took's biogaphy & has found links to the Pink Fairies (who he co-founded with Twink and Mick (Deviants) Farren), Syd Barrett, Hawkwind, The Bonzo Dog Do-Dah Band, Inner City Unit to name but a few! In 2004 the master tape recorded at the legendary 'Pathway Studios' by Steve Took's band 'The Horns' in 1977 was released for the first time in any format as Blow It!!! ironically on Cherry Red Records. Fee was the joint producer & along with friend David Mantell master-minded the whole venture with assistance from original 'Horns' members & Ron Tree, Hawkwind's astounding front man until 2002. Two of the members of 'The Horns' were 'scooped up' by Hawkwind co-founder, Nik Turner for new band 'Inner City Unit' or 'ICU' who gained a cult following in the punk scene in the late 1970's/early 1980's.

’’The Sunday Express (five stars) ***** It’s clear from the title track that you are listening to something special with O’Connor’s second solo album… It’s time for KT, Sandi and Amy to make room because this should launch a new Scottish star into the charts. ’’
The Herald (four stars) **** ''O’Connor has one of the best voices heard in Scotland in some time, and a set of fine songs to show it off…''
The List (four stars) **** There is an unmistakable modern twist to her music
Tried to sign Stonehenge petition but it sadly looks like I am to late to put my name down as it told me it is now closed. Take care, love and peace, Katrinax
Hi Kev :-) Hope you are well! I will indeed sign Stonehenge petition :-) As a Brighton and Hove citizen I am sharing with you, friends and family in the hope you support Lewes Rd Community Garden. Here are the details if you wish to support?....
Some visionary and dedicated people decided to create a community garden project to turn an unused derelict area that has not been used in years. Which their vison and hopes brought many people to create with their loving hands and hearts a beautiful garden and a haven for people to get together and connect and a place to sit and enjoy the garden. Here is their website if you wish to see and learn more or get involved if you wish to?
If you would like to support Lewes Rd Community Garden they will be most gratful if you will sign their petition to keep the garden alive. Thank you for your time :-)

In Irish mythology, the beginning of the summer season for the Tuatha Dé Danann and the Milesians started at Bealtaine. Great bonfires would mark a time of purification and transition, heralding in the season in the hope of a good harvest later in the year, and were accompanied with ritual acts to protect the people from any harm by Otherworldly spirits, such as the Aos Sí. Like the festival of Samhain, opposite Beltane on October 31 Beltane was also a time when the Otherworld was seen as particularly close at hand. Have a wicked time!....all de best (please check out http://www.myspace.com/freepeltier cheers!!)
