About me:
hello. I live in Seattle and write novels for young readers (though some adults have enjoyed them too!). My first books come out this year. Check out the covers on the photos page! The first two books are Oliver Nocturne 1 and 2, in August. Then my hardcover, Carlos is Gonna Get It, comes out in October. Oliver 3 will be released in November. Fun!
I also play in a few bands in Seattle. The band that I sing and drum and write songs for is called Central Services. We just finished our newest record, which is a kids' album called the Board of Education (see friends below) It's like a modern take on Schoolhouse Rock. We had so much fun making it, because we got to be nerds, and play funk and jazz and tango and ROCK and disco, cause why should there be rules in Education??
You can also hear me playing drums and singing the occasional backup vocal with Math and Physics Club. We've released 3 EP's and an LP on Matinee Recordings. I do the same tap-tap-occasional-lala with singer-songwriter Andrea Wittgens, and Carrie Clark and the Lonesome Lovers.
PLEASE NOTE: I am not Kevin Emerson the magician, or Kevin Emerson the psychiatrist, both prominently featured when you google this handle of mine. Many people also ask me: "are you 'that kevin emerson' from Ilium, NY?" Sadly, the answer is no. I'm originally from Cheshire, CT, by way of Colby College and Boston.
