..."Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that's creativity"...
Charles MINGUS
I studied electric and double bass in France with Yves Torchinsky (Orchestre de contrebasses, Orchestre national de Jazz, René Urtreger Trio...)
I am glad I met and played with Louis Sclavis, Jean Pierre Como, Erik Truffaz, Louis Moutin, James Kay Smith, David Linx, Sylvain Beuf, Flavio Boltro (Tourcoing Jazz Festival).
After a first personal project demo recorded in quartet with Thibaut Hien (sax & flute), Franck Dhersin (piano) and Laurent Mercier (drums), I left France in 2006 to New York to join the Cultural Services of the French Embassy to work with Emmanuel Morlet.
I worked for the French American Jazz and Contemporary Music Funds
in collaboration with FACE Foundation and Chamber Music America
and for the
Louisiana Recovery Fund.
I also worked with both the Cultural Services the French Export Music Office in New York for the organization of the 34th IAJE* Conference
during which I co-organized the two-week-long French Quarter Jazz Festival in New York City, Washington and New Orleans; in collaboration with the French Cultural Services and the French Music Export Office. I am glad I met great musicians like Terence Blanchard, Eric Johnson, Lou Donaldson, Akiko Tsuruga, Riccardo Del Fra, Ari Hoenig, Mino Cinelu, Joe Lovano, Gato Barbieri, Al Di Meola and Jim Hall.
Some of my favorite pictures... thanks guys for making them.:-)
