It is with pleasure that we introduce to you, Evangelist Kevin Downswell. A Jamaican born Gospel Recording Artiste, who discovered that he could sing at age 13. He won the National JCDC Gospel Festival in 2003 (the largest Gospel Competition in Jamaica) and this was the major launching pad for his ministry. Kevin has been through much and will continue to use what he went through as a tool to touch the lives of people with the aim of reminding them that… THEY CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS THEM, Phil 4:13. He knows how it feels to be neglected, rejected, ostracized and not having enough at times. He knows what it feels like to open the refrigerator and only see water and still give God thanks. Kevin grew up in a tough inner city community where gunshots rang out constantly and as a result most of his friends who could not resist the gun ended up dying by the gun. And if you asked Mr. Downswell how he made it, He would say to you “Nobody but Jesus”.

This man of God knows how it feels to be close to God, and as he grew up in these challenging circumstances with the Lord by his side, he became a better man instead of a bitter one. God has been his everything… God has taken him through much, and is taking him into greatness, to God be all the Glory.

After faithfully serving in his local church for over 12 years in Kingston Jamaica, he was ordained an Evangelist in 2005.This was also the very same year that he graduated with honours from the University of the West Indies Mona Campus with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry which he was going to use to enter the field of Medicine. It was during this time that he was commissioned by the Lord to become a full-time Minister, a decision that was preceded by much prayer, fasting and tears. This was because Kevin’s plan was to become a medical doctor; but obviously God had another plan and as tough as it was, he submitted to God’s calling and as a result God’s favor came pouring in.

Kevin Downswell is a true worshipper and believes that worship goes far beyond the worship services we attend on Sundays or Saturdays. Whether he is on or off stage, he gives God everything all the time. He also believes in Excellence because he serves an excellent God.

The voice of this maestro is incredibly unique and carries a heavy anointing. He was apart of the Trio that performed the Hit Song ‘Naah bow to no satan” which was awarded the Caribbean Music Awards(A.K.A Marlin Awards) for Reggae Recording of the year in 2006. He also worked with Tennyson Walters of OFMB based in New Jersey recording two songs namely “Fret Not(Evil Doers)”and “Since The World Didn’t Love Me” for the project REGGAE FOR CHRIST, which created history on the international music charts by being the first Gospel album to ever top the New York and South Florida charts simultaneously. Kevin was also one of the Guest Ministers at the MAJA awards held in Toronto Canada in 2008, Canada’s most prestigious Gospel Music Award.

But above all achievements thus far, the release of his debut Album entitled “Close To You” is most dear to his heart. With hit songs such as Still Stand, Shout, Nothing Just Happens, I can feel your Glory, Change is Coming ,joy and the biggest hit of all ,the title track called "Close to you". This Album has transformed thousands and maybe millions of lives already through the power of God which resonates from every song. The album is now played on radio stations across the U.S, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe; The U.K, Africa and parts of Asia, most of which he has personally been to minister. This man of God loves the Lord, and has dedicated his life to ushering people to a special place in God’s Presence. His vision is to see every one on the face of the earth have a meeting with God where their live will never be the same again.

He has shared the stage with the likes of Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, Michael W.Smith,Marvin Winans Jr.,,Micah Stampley,Papa San and Dr. Myles Munroe to name a few. A couple of His Mentors are namely Dr. Karen Taylor, formerly of T.D Jakes Potters House and Dr.Henle Morgan, consultant to the prime Minister of Jamaica. These two anointed vessels and his own Bishop, L.G Hamilton sees something in Kevin well worth protecting and act as spiritual covering , providing wise counsel to Kevin as he matures in God and transitions to other levels.

Spurr Music Empire, a Jamaican artiste management and Music Production organization, currently manages and does booking for Kevin. The CEO and founder, Wendell Lawrence, is a man of God and a visionary and supports Mr. Downswell's vision.
