Kevin Kretsch (aka DrKev) is an Irish guitarist based in Paris, France. A native of Dublin, Kevin has been playing the guitar for nearly 20 years. Based in Paris since February 2000, Kevin has earned a reputation as a talented and versatile guitar and mandolin player and backing vocalist. He plays regularly around Paris and France with Charlie Seymour, The Bonewagon, The Hot Water Bottles, Perry Leopard and Los Caballeros Sympaticos, and Jan "The Man" Gregerson.
With these groups and musicians, Kevin has appeared at many major festivals, including the Marrakech Film Festival and the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, and numerous radio and television appearances. Comfortable in a wide variety of musical styles, ranging from rock and folk to blues, country, funk and soul, he also has worked with many musicians from around the world, including John Simms, Marten Ingle, Martyn Mulhere, Thomas Brun, Paddy Sherlock, Duncan Roberts, George Washingmachine, David Blenkhorn and Sebastien Girardot.
Living in the centre of Paris, two minutes walk from the river Seine, Kev shares an apartment with two double basses, a ukelele, a tenor banjo, assorted harmonicas, a trombone, a clarinet, a digital piano, even an Uud at one point, none of which he ever plays. He loves cooking, thinking about swimming but never actually getting to the pool, doing his own guitar and amp repairs, and he loves the groove!
