Kevin Kretsch (aka DrKev) is an Irish guitarist based in Paris. He plays regularly around Paris and France with Marten Ingle, The Downtown Merrylegs, Charlie Seymour, Melissa Cox, Perry Leopard, Jan "The Man" Gregerson, and Los Caballeros Sympaticos. A native of Dublin, Kevin has been playing the guitar for 20 years. Living in Paris since February 2000, Kevin has earned a reputation as a talented and versatile guitar and mandolin player and backing vocalist.
Comfortable in a wide variety of musical styles, ranging from rock and folk to blues, country, funk and soul, he also has worked with many musicians from around the world, including the great John Simms (R.I.P., dear brother), Paddy Sherlock, The Bonewagon, Barry Johnson, Chris Kenna, Thomas Brun, Duncan Roberts, Martyn Mulhere, The Hot Water Bottles, George Washingmachine, David Blenkhorn and Sebastien Girardot. Kevin has appeared at many major festivals, including the Marrakech International Film Festival and the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, and numerous radio and television appearances.
Living in the centre of Paris, two minutes walk from the river Seine, Kev shares an apartment with two double basses, a ukelele, a tenor banjo, assorted harmonicas, a trombone, a clarinet, and a digital piano, none of which he ever plays, or even owns. He loves cooking, thinking about swimming but never actually getting to the pool, doing his own guitar and amp repairs, and he loves a good groove!
I just set up two playlists - one of French musicians and one of Irish musicians. You're in the French one - as are a few other Irish guys. Maybe after I go to Paris in July, I can add you to my profile list - songs by people I've actually met!
