This is the most important section, isn't it? This is the part where you really get to know who someone is.
I'm interested in things that:
- make me think
- make me laugh
- excite me
I'm somewhat of a hedonist, someone who believes in living for the moment, enjoying all the pleasures of life in other words. There's no real guarantee that we'll even be alive tomorrow so we might as well turn up our favourite songs real loud, laugh our asses off with our friends, and enjoy being in a good now.
I'm against taking the following things too seriously:
- life
- oneself
- anyone who takes the above two things too seriously.
The only exception to this is of course politicians. They're paid my hard-earned money to look after the country and they better damn well take that job seriously... grumble, grumble...
Anyway, enough about me. Are you interesting? Tell me about you.
Music
Right now I'm listening to Pink Floyd
, Coming Back To Life.Other than that
, I'm insanely eclectic. Put me down for pretty much anything, except... Those rap guys who sit around talking about themselves for the whole song, how cool / dangerous they are, or whatever... tell it to your mom, asshole. I don't care. Also, I can't much get into any music where the "singer" does nothing but scream, roar, belch, or vomit into the microphone for the entire song. I'm sure it's some real profound shit to you, buddy, but if I can't even hear what the hell you're saying I'm not interested. Stop yelling at me. I didn't do anything.Other than that, my all-time favourites - bands where I like pretty much everything they ever came out with - are as follows. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Van Halen (Roth & Hagar), Metallica, Journey, Extreme, Beatles, Doors, Eagles, Def Leppard, Megadeth, Anthrax, Beastie Boys, ZZ Top... to name a few. Who can ever think of every band they like though?
Genres. Classic rock, blues, classical, Metal, hard rock, Top 40, some dance, some pop, some country, some emo, some hardcore; pretty much anything where the artists actually put some thought/work/effort into their music, and you can tell. The reverse is also true. I hate mindless formulaic nonsense no matter what the genre.
Nothing pisses me off more in the music world than "artists" who are more famous for their looks, antics, off-stage drama, controversy, or whatever, than they are for their music. If your favourite bands include artists like this, you're an idiot, plain and simple. But that's the way these bands like it. It helps them get rich.
Movies
Anyone who can name their all-time favourite movie hasn't seen enough movies in their life. Picking a favourite is like choosing which colour of a sunset is your favourite -- you just can't!
Having said that, I do have general favourites in terms of genre. I love inspiring stories, adventure, action, stories that make you think, great epics, histories, comedies, tragedies, block-busters that are light on message and big on fun. Yeah, I admit it -- I like a mindless action-fest thrill ride once in a while.
Which brings me to my next rant. Critics. Can't stand these critics who talk like every movie ever made has to be some profound statement about the human condition, and anything less is not worthy of public viewing. Go tell it to your fellow film-school windbags and leave me alone to enjoy the guy getting thrown through a window with a live grenade down his pants.
On the other hand, I get nauseous just thinking about some of these chick-flicks they come out with -- movies where the girl does everything wrong, sits around whining about how terrible men are, and still gets the leading hunk in the end. Chick flicks are okay, if they've actually got a story to them... Jerry Maguire for example... but most of them are just pandering to a woman's wishful thinking.
Reality TV sucks too, especially shows centered around dating and/or romance. But that's a whole other rant.
Television
Books
See my section on favourite movies. It's pretty much the same.
I have a book of poetry and short stories published, if you're interested. Message me and I'll send you the link.
Heroes
My heroes are people who stand their ground and keep fighting in spite of all obstacles, people who are imperfect, weak, struggling, confused, afraid, and/or lonely, but still keep going anyway and never give up -- they're heroes in my opinion, whether they're fighting an epic battle against the forces of evil, or simply getting through the day. They are people who not only overcome some of the toughest challenges a human being will ever have to face, but go on to better the lives of others as well.
People who take their shit out on someone else... not cool.
People who are ungrateful for what they have... also not cool.
The following people are heroes:
Sandra Conner
Michelle Ranville
Barb Rondeau
Bob Rondeau
Tom & Freddie Ham
Mitch Hedberg
Jesus
Charlene Hatch
Gordon N. Ranville
Bowlie
Shirtie
Pac-Man!!!

About me:
This is the general stuff, right? Looks, occupation, age, location, etc.
Looks... see attached photo.
Occupation... I'm currently looking for work in the communications field. But I'll settle for something that pays the bills.
I'm 33.
I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Please note: I'm not a fan of chain letters. I'm not superstitious. I don't believe my life's direction and fate will be decided based on whether or not I forward a chain letter. I'm not sure why you do, if you do, but each to their own. I ignore them if they're in the bulletins, but if they show up in the comments, they get deleted. If these things actually have anything interesting to say, then post them without the part about "sending this thing to ten people" and I'll keep them around. Otherwise... click... -deleted- Thanks for your comments, otherwise.

Who I'd like to meet:
I'd like to meet people who are intelligent and funny. That about sums it up because I can literally be friends with anyone. Those who know me will attest to that.
I'm not interested in a relationship right now, but that's probably because I don't know anyone who I'd actually consider getting into a relationship with. It's like that Calvin and Hobbes comic where Calvin wished to be the supreme ruler of the universe, and Hobbes wished for a sandwich. Calvin ranted about how stupid Hobbes' wish was but in the end Hobbes got his wish. That pretty much sums up my love life. I'd like to be the supreme ruler of the universe, but in the meantime I'll settle for a sandwich. In other words, I'd like to live happily ever after with some beautiful woman who's my absolute perfect match, but in the mean time I'll settle for hanging out with some cool people and making new friends.
If that made sense to you, you're probably pretty close to my perfect match already. Message me now!
