BIG NEWS FROM THE OFFICIAL KEVIN COYNE SITE:

We're very pleased to announce that September 2009 will see the release of a 4CD anthology of Kevin's recordings for Virgin Records, alongside a remastered and expanded Marjory Razorblade, featuring unreleased songs, singles, b-sides and more. Both the anthology and Marjory Razorblade will be available as physical releases and digital downloads through EMI. The rest of Kevin's Virgin catalogue will eventually be available as remastered and expanded editions through Esoteric Recordings. More details about Esoteric are available here:

The anthology will feature three discs drawn from Kevin's studio albums from Marjory Razorblade to Sanity Stomp, with a tracklisting chosen by Kevin's eldest sons, Eugene and Robert. It will also include previously unreleased songs and rare recordings. The fourth disc features Kevin and his band live at Hyde Park on June 30th 1974. More details to follow soon.

Born in Derby, UK, Kevin Coyne released over 40 albums in his lifetime, as well as being a painter, poet, dramatist and novelist. He died in December 2004. A nice retrospective of the life of Kevin Coyne, including a review of his latest release, Underground, can be found here:

"During one of may sat night visits to see kev and spend the night down the pub I at last got him to sing so I dashed out to the car grabbed a tape stuck iti in his tiny mono recorder and away he went-sitting on that sofa that's on the back of pointing the finger- its only about 20 mins but has been a treasure of mine for all these years. it's classic coyne stuff Ill try an tape you a copy some time an get if off....... from jan 79"
