Bio

From first sitting on a drum kit at 16 to headlining his first festival in France in front of thousands of people just four years later, Kev Hickman's career has been one characterised by hard work and determination. His first professional band played all over the UK with festival spots in Ireland and Holland, all before his 18th birthday. Through these first years he quickly developed his distinct and intense playing style.

An opportunity was provided in 2009 when his passion for playing drums caught the interest of Australian blues legend Gwyn Ashton. With him the Two-Man Blues Army was formed and over the next two years they established themselves as an unstoppable force, touring Europe, Brazil and America, quickly becoming one of the hardest working bands on the circuit to promote Ashton's 2009 release 'Two-Man Blues Army'. Hickman appeared in the official music video for 'Break' from album and also appeared in, edited and produced the official music video for 'Million Dollar Blues'.

In early 2011 the duo tore up stages all over Europe supporting British rock band Magnum on their two month tour, receiving rave reviews from fans and the press. The band then began work on Gwyn Ashton's new album 'Radiogram' set for release on October 22nd. The diverse guest artist roster includes Don Airey (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath), Kim Wilson (Fabulous Thunderbirds), Robbie Blunt (Robert Plant, Bronco, Silverhead), Johnny Mastro (LA’s Mama’s Boys), Mark Stanway (Magnum, Phil Lynott) and Mo Birch (UB40, Go West, Culture Club). Radiogram was recorded in England, mixed in LA by Lost Prophets’ producer Justin Hopfer and mastered in Australia by Don Bartley, who was recently commissioned by EMI to re-master the audiophile version of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Hickman appeared in the official music video for Gwyn Ashton's single 'Little Girl' off the 'Radiogram' album, this video premiered on Classic Rock Magazine's website on August 24th, 2012 and was welcomed by fans and press.

His drumming has been described as 'powerful', 'passionate' and 'inspiring' and has received praise from the press and industry professionals. He has taught drums at various workshops all across the country and also teaches privately.

He has headlined festivals all over Europe and played at both small and large venues all over the UK as well as in the USA, France, Italy, Spain, Norway, Brazil, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Portugal, Poland and the Shetland Islands.

Reviews:

"'Killer' Kev Hickman is an up-coming UK based blues and rock drummer best known for intense, high-octane performances - one to watch..." - Yahama Download Article Nov 2010

"Gwyn Ashton was joined on stage by drummer 'Killer' Kev Hickman who made the instrument look like a child’s toy, so good was his drumming that the audience didn’t miss the lack of a bass player, certainly for a young man, he has a talent that some drummers twice his age have not mastered half his technique." - liverpoolstudentmedia.com 2011

"This duo march into battle taking on every blues-rock trick in the book, successfully blasting them to a new level. No-nonsense, brutal and invigorating" - Guitar and Bass 2009

"Kev Hickman, 21, generates excitement on drums and at times seems determined to test the manufacturer's warranty on his kit" - Buckingham Advertiser 2010
