Kristen Ford, Paul Hendrick and Sarah Icklan make the Kristen Ford Band. They play an eclectic mix of Rock, Reggae, Folk and INDIE. 2009 has been a big year for the trio, Kristen released her debut record "Filthy Nasty" on Many Doors records.
She then met Sarah Icklan whose skill in jazz, syncopation and well timed cowbell hits have become an essential fabric in the music of the KFB. Sarah's bandmate and longtime friend Paul Hendrick was brought on board to play bass- his fluid bass lines well versed in Funk, Reggae and Mario Bros are the perfect underscore for Kristen's jangly, energized and rythymic guitar playing.
Vocally Kristen has been compared to everyone from Ani Difranco to Taylor Hanson to Lenny Kravitz, but we'd prefer you make up your own mind about what to call the genre feel and energy of the Kristen Ford Band. This year they have played well over 70 shows- on point to play 100 (or more) in 2009.
Highlights include performances at: Harper's Ferry (Allston, MA) The Middle East (Cambridge, MA) The Elevens (Northampton, MA) Fontanas (NYC, NY) Old Colony (Provincetown, MA) and Langdon St Cafe (Montpelier, VT)
Kristen Ford has played gigs with Paul and Sarah, among other musicians and solo acoustic in 3 countries and 15 states sharing the stage with such fine performers as Sonya Kitchell, Erin Mckeown, Rex Complex, Baker London, Matthew Santos, Halloween Alaska, Raise High the Roofbeam, The Pussy Pirates and Naia Kete.
Her debut record “Filthy Nasty” was recorded in the fall of 2008, at the Institute for the Musical Arts and was produced by Lee Madeloni and June Millington. This ten track LP is predictably unpredictable, each song bringing a new element to the listener. Filthy Nasty was independently released January 20th 2009. You can find it for sale at gigs, on kfomusic.com at CDbaby and on iTunes.
Soon the Kristen Ford Band will scale back on shows- to work on a new set of songs, begin recording a follow up record and continue to deliver quality songs and performances. Drop and line and don't be a stranger!
Best,
Kristen, Paul and Sarah

“Filthy Nasty” is easily one of the most promising debut albums I have heard in a long time. This Kristen Ford is a real rocker," but then I concluded she was more of a reggae artist. There is no easy was to categorize the music of Kristen Ford. All of this musical diversity is what makes Filthy Nasty so appealing. Add to that striking melodies, the strong musicianship and her honest direct lyrics, and you’ve got the real deal.” - The Greenfield Recorder February 2009
To speak to Kristen Ford is like talking to a child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Ford never settles on one genre, dabbling in folk, rock, disco and reggae...Ford, an art school dropout, got her solo start at age 19, playing for "toothless men" at a "disgusting bar" called Memories in Chicago. "It was a shaky 25 minutes of music," she recalled. Despite her surroundings and the crowd, Ford caught the performing bug. She's been performing live ever since. Don't buy them candy," Ford said. "Buy them 'Filthy Nasty'." - The Huntsville Times, April 2009
“An unexpected, eye catching blend…music is a fusion of varying elements, like heavy guitars and dance beats… creates music that speaks to everyone: gay, straight, black, white, whatever. [Kristen Ford] strives to be a new breed of rock.” - Windy City Times April 2008
“Sounds like she was born with a Guitar in her hand. A Multi-instrumentalist with dozens of songs under her belt, she effortlessly glides between pop, rock and roots.” - Diva Magazine October 2007
“She’s an ambitious girl, who plays guitar and records as a solo artist. Her live sets are never boring… this is how a girl with a guitar builds a fan base” - Columbia Chronicle December 2006
