People have been asking us for years,

“What about the stuff I used to listen to

on KGRG?" KGRG1 "The Alternative Past!"

is now your home for all the tunes you

remember and love. From Alice in Chains to,

well, bands that start with “Z”, we have all the

bases covered in Alternative Music History.

We’re going to try to play stuff from 1975-1996

…the epicenter of the music scene in Seattle

and the years that define our generation.

We broadcast just down the hall from KGRG,

and many of the same DJ’s you hear on KGRG,

you’ll hear on KGRG1.

We want your ideas, song suggestions, and

cupcake recipes.

Oh yeah, the pitch: We need you to enroll in classes at Green River to really make KGRG1 take off! This quarter will probably provide the most hands-on experience you’ll ever get in radio. Seriously. Former KGRG DJ Charlie Harger is the instructor. He’ll teach you all about the equipment you’ll need to operate; how he gained fame, fortune and women in radio; and why you should never, EVER poke a bear.

Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays, 2pm-3:30pm starting September 25.

Classes are Journalism 120, 121, and 122.

Three or five credit options available.
