Sounds Like
"A Jazz Fusion Technician" with a very relaxed feel. Khalil plays with a
mature dynamic approach, usually alloying for a crescendo in the single and
double stroke rolls. His ride cymbal patterns have been compared to those
of Jack Dejohnette (one of Khalil's biggest influences), with a constant
underlining flurry of ghost notes on the snare at most times.
His linear independence is quite remarkable as well. Khalil tends to use allot of paradiddle sticking's in the hands that are often contradictory to what's being
played in the feet, creating complex polyrhythms from simple ideas!
