About me:
I'm a Iraqi woman who grew up in Baghdad and recently settled in Brooklyn. (I moved to Jakarta in 1991, and then to Los Angeles in 1994 -- luckily, my father is an engineer). Before I left Iraq, my poetry was published quite frequently in my school journal. Unfortunately I was born deaf -- which informs many of my poems.
My poetry is about my personal experiences as an Iraqi woman in America. Although I am anti-war, I should say outright that I don't blame the US for what they have done to my country. I hate the war, but understand that it is not Americans, but their government that driving the imperial ambitions of the United States.
I love poetry and I love America. Unfortunately I am deaf and cannot sign in English (yet), but that doesn't mean I can't have fun.

Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone who shares my love of poetry, and my love of American people! I believe the war in Iraq has been a disaster both for my original country and my adopted country, but I strongly feel my opposition to the war should not extend to our troops who are only doing as they are told. I like guys and I love chatting amongst the girls.
