Of the many things I like to see hear and enjoy, these are the pick of my bunch:
Jeff Buckley John Martyn (in the 70's phase) Nick Drake The Cinematic Orchestra Fink (UK) Stevie Wonder James Brown Marvin Gaye D'Angello A Tribe Called Quest Soundgarden Tool Phillip Glass Red Wine (most) David Attenborough Hand Crafted Films Buzz Lightyear
There's something about the simplicity of acoustic music I like.
I can be almost anywhere, just me and a guitar and keep myself entertained. I enjoy creating 'bits' of music. Something to start immerse myself in and often have no real end point. These 'bits' also develop into songs, some of which you hear.
Most of these tunes have been created and recorded in whichever room I happened to be living in at the time.
In between the 'acoustic-ness' has been, the get down jump up type of music. And I've had the pleasure of spending many fun hours.... YEARS in fact, lost in some free forming never ending musical madness, where the only things needed were lots of instruments, friends and the odd glass or two of wine! Now you'll often find me at my shows bringing it back to basics with just a guitar and voice. But from time to time I also like to be helped out by my little Japenese band member friend the 'Loop Station'.
In June 2009 I started a project 'Hoop & The Kid' with Ian Hooper a singersongwriter out of Seattle. You can hear a couple of tracks from our 1st self titled ep on this page. Plans for the follow up are due at the end of this year. .
A full length Kid Decker album is due for release around the beginning of 2010.
I was originally born and raised in South West England, but am currently living in Hamburg, Germany.
Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
