As the old Irish saying goes: Necessity is the mother of invention. And so by this, we see that this quintet of Italians from the mean streets of South Oakland Pittsburgh never needed much. But is it really that important to be an inventive band? Kid Durango's front man kistopher love doesnt think so. "Oh my god dude. Think about it. How many professionals just invent stuff on the spot? Do Police Men just wake up one day and think shit like: 'Instead of using handcuffs, I'm gonna arrest people using really coarse hemp bracelets?' Hell no dude. They have a formula, and that formula works every time. And they don't question that formula until it fails. Its like that for us."
Kisto is not alone either and he knows it. The only difference is, Kid Durango embrace what others might try to mask. In a genre where everybody thinks and acts the same way, it could get quite ugly.
"I always hear stuff like, 'why don't you guys stop trying to sound like every other band out there' and I'm all like 'cause if we did, you wouldnt be able to sound like every music critic out there.' Thats usually seconds before I "accidentally" spill my booze all over the guy's fresh new Chuck Taylors and tight pants"- says drummer Deak. "Look man, I moonlight as a fire fighter so the part of my life that needs attention is fulfilled once a year when people I barely know try to french kiss me after I save their favorite pet/child from a burning building. Screw groupies and drugs. If you like free booze and pissing off club owners because only dudes show up to your gigs, then join a band.
