Brand new LP from Colorado producer KID HUM, ft. Braille, Brown Bag All Stars, Cy Yung, Hellz Yea!, Joulz Il, Junclassic, L Chanes, PreZZure, Pugs Atomz, Blueface, Whygee and Sunkenstate!!
Imagine - love the reggae in it, feels like I'm traveling
Church - just feels holy
Clonzepam - I'm a Jazz Head so i love the horns - I could do without the drops in this song.
Rain - The beat is dope again not a fan of the drops, yet the beat is still dope
Side B - One Of the best sounding beats and very clean.
The Joints I left out are at times a little noisy for me, and the drums could be beefed up a little more. Overall I though this was a great concept album and I look forward to hearing more from Kid Hum."
"With the exception to the Beastie Boys latest album, I have always felt like instrumental albums are a bit like a drunken kiss from the hot girl in school...it's nice, but it leaves you wanting more! Thats kinda the way I felt with this album. While I was feelin most of the joints on here, it left me wanting to hear someone going over these beats other than the computer generated voice overs which I got to admit where a bit annoying the further I got. Hopefully when he releases it those aren't included! I can definitely respect the artistry though. Don't just take my word for it, listen for yourself."
"Fossil Fuel is slightly reminiscent of J Dilla’s work, so that’s always a plus. Don’t be surprised if this becomes a rare piece that you should have gotten your hands on earlier."
"This album sort of reminds you of the great producers work that sadly emerges once they pass on, but thankfully Kid Hum is alive and kickin’ so be sure you support this album. Its an eclectic mix of dope instrumentals and has a hint of hilarity too..."
"Instrumental albums aren't really my thing... unless there's something that makes it stick out from the crowd. Kid Hum's upcoming genre bending piece of Hip Hop instrumentalism (phew), does just that. Hip Hop takes many turns on this one & some of the samples tell a story all by themselves."
"Take your chance on this one: an instrumental album from a producer I've never heard of from Arvada, Colorado. His name is Kid Hum and he seems quite talented."
"My boy Kid Hum has given out a free download of his album, Fossil Fuel, and it's the truth. I've actually been rocking to this all week; its a deep instrumental journey, in the vein of a J Dilla or other producers who infuse their personality into their beats - just those off-centre, funky tracks with odd samples that work so well."
"Fossil Fuel is a masterfully created instrumental album that is very listenable; in other words it's "not just a bunch of beats..." Check it out for yourself, I recommend this to all those beatnuts out there."
"Let me introduce you to Kid Hum, a supremely talented producer from Colorado. His latest project is a sample filled instrumental album. If you like what you hear (which you will), support great new music and purchase it on iTunes or Amazon."
"Fresh off producing the excellent Whygee and Sunkenstate project "Suicide Watch EP", producer Kid Hum (also known as DJ Dylon on Basementalism) goes off on his own with a solo project. Trust me this is something you don't want to pass up. It would be sacreligious to compare Hum to DJ Shadow, but let's just say if you like Shadow's work, there may be a few joints you'll enjoy on Fossil Fuel.."
"With Fossil Fuel Kid Hum has created an enjoyable instrumental album that will get your head bopping throughout. This is most definitely for those that appreciate music for it’s creativity and innovation.
My favorite joint has to be ‘Church’, too fresh for words."
"Having listened to the album for about a week now, I strongly recommend it. While some hip hop instrumental albums become humdrum or predictable after a few tracks, Fossil Fuel is banger from start to finish, and highly creative. And I generally hate on everything, ask around."
"This is possibly one of the dopest intros I have ever heard. If you don't like the intro, you won't like the album. I hardly see that happening though.
This isn't your ordinary instrumental album, it explores his vivid imagination as a producer and you can let your mind roam through his broad range in production from smooth tracks like "Bass So Lo", to groovy Star Wars Episode IV-esque parlor tracks like "I Dont Like You Either."
"(From: The instrumental LP, Fossil Fuel) I haven't had three tracks get stuck in my head like these three in a long ass time. All three, "Prayer", "Church", and "Bells" have been branded into my subconscious all this past week. I wake up in the middle of the night, "Prayer" will be going off in my head. I wake up in the morning and "Bells" are ringing in my head. At work, I catch myself humming out "Church" and beating out the drum pattern on the desk. Shit is just that catchy. Then you got the creepy vocal sample from Lee Scratch Perry and I'm going to be picked up by the authorities if I ever starting humming and shouting out the sample to myself around any young children. Kid Hum really created a masterpiece on the whole album, not just these three tracks, but these three beats get it stuck like a scratched record."
"Go ahead and put your preconceived notions behind you, this is a good 6 track EP that has a classic sound that might take you back to how hip hop used to be."
"The EP is drenched in dreary, dark production from the hands of Kid Hum, that cradles the sharp and mellow deliveries of Whygee and Sunkenstate perfectly. If you like underground hip hop you will definitely want to check out this EP from these two up and comers."
"My favorite tracks are "Right and Wrong" and "Cops and Crack". The whole EP basically is the definite essence of what hip-hop was supposed to be. I would give it 4.5 mics."
"Although the title may suggest otherwise, you will most definately NOT want to commit suicide when listening to this piece of quality freeness. This was actually sitting in my in box for quite a while. But since I now get a load of stuff to trawl through this one almost passed me by completely. Luckily I saw sense & checked it out. Head nods ahoy! Enjoy!"
"L'état de South Park, des Denver Nuggets ou des Broncos, peut aussi nous servir du bon rap et c'est la cas avec le duo de Denver, Whygee et Sunken State qui s'allient avec le beatmaker Kid Hum pour enregistrer leur premier EP, The Suicide Watch. Et ne vous fiez pas à la cover, c'est un peu petit EP avec une vibe jazy pas dégueulasse du tout."
"There's always an interest when like-minded solo artists come together to collaborate on a project. So when Colorado emcees Whygee and Sunken State announced they were releasing a 7-song EP called Suicide Watch, those who follow the local scene were excited to hear the results. To add to the excitement, the EP would be entirely produced by Colorado producer Kid Hum, known for his throwback, bass heavy tracks. The result is a head-nodding, lyrical boot camp that anyone remotely interested in hip-hop should be checking out."
