Southern California born and bred, Young Cali aka Kid Jones is no stranger to West Coast Hip-Hop. The legacy of his favorite rap artists like 2 Pac, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Too Short, NWA, and The Dogg Pound have certainly influenced him, but he has a style and flow all his own. This versatile rapper is gifted with the ability to switch up his style to vibe with any track.
At 17 years-old when many kids his age are not sure what they want to do with their lives, Young Calis aka Kid Jones' dreams were already taking form. “I discovered I had the ability to rap and I began working out my skills with friends that produced music around the city. I began free styling and writing music every day,” says the young phenom.
Understanding the business and all its ups and downs, Young Cali aka Kid Jones is well on his way to stardom. He is kicking down doors and establishing his name within the music industry with his infectious new release, Hustler of The Year. Silencing doubters is his theme throughout most of the songs on the album. Consider it his calling card so that he can artistically showcase and quiet all non-believers. “Different people doubting my abilities to actually create a CD and make it in the music industry is what gave me the energy and motivation I need,” says Young Cali aka Kid Jones . One person who definitely has his back is his mother who takes care of the business side of things for now.
On the hot track, “Old School” Young Cali aka Kid Jones takes us on a musical journey. “Old school is a song that really came from the heart. It talks about all the different things that my family and I have gone thought when I was a kid. I feel that a lot of people would relate to it.”
While music is at the forefront of Young Calis aka Kid Jones goal of taking over the industry, the entertainer is multi-faceted. “Besides making music I am currently attending college to receive a degree in business and a minor in African-American studies. Understanding how to make more money has always been interesting to me.”
Young Cali aka Kid Jones is always in the studio and loves to collaborate with other hot artist. “When working on a collaboration track, I like getting that creative chemistry and vibe with other artists. I like feeding off of the energy they bring to the studio.”
Growing up in sunny Southern California, it’s no surprise that Young Cali aka Kid Jones loves to take advantage of all the activities that California has to offers. “I love to watch and play sports like football, baseball, and basketball because I used to play them back in high school; but writing and producing music is my favorite hobby of them all.”
With his head on straight and focused on his future Young Cali aka Kid Jones is definitely someone you need to keep on your radar on. “People can accomplish anything they put there mind to, no matter where they are from, or what they have been through.”
