Laurent Menot is a french songwriter.
He recorded and self-produced his first solo album.
The Kid in ocean project started in 2002, recorded in 2003/2004 by Julian Kirkman,
with the helping hands, the musicians of the recording sessions.
He plays acoustic guitar (6 & 12 strings), electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboards,
harmonica, and voices.
10 songs about cycle of life, from childhood to adult life,
with naive lyrics and innocent music.

Sur des mélodies Pop/Folk, 12 musiciens ont donné vie au premier album solo
autoproduit de Laurent MENOT.
10 chansons mettant en scène un univers peuplé de souvenirs d'enfance.
Ce projet a pu voir le jour grace aux encouragements et l'aide précieuse de la chanteuse
et choriste Paule CALEY, et de l'ingénieur du son Julian KIRKMAN; sans oublier les
musiciens professionnels "The helping hands".
KId in ocean, "l'enfant dans l'ocean", synthétise les émotions que l'on peut ressentir en
se dirigeant vers l'âge adulte et en abandonnant un peu de ses rêves d'enfant.
La perte de l'innocence au milieu d'un océan symbolisant la vie jalonnée d'obstacles,
avec ses vagues et ses remous. On lutte contre les éléments pour ne pas sombrer,
et on aimerait se laisser bercer par le courant.
C'est avant tout un projet concept en deux parties, dont voici la première.
C'est un conte musical léger et aérien, un voyage aux couleurs jazzy, funky, reggae...
On pourrait traduire Kid in ocean par "l'enfant de la mer", "l'enfant de l'amer",
ou "l'enfant de la mère", "l'enfant de l'amère"...
