“The artistry in dishing out a dynamic, indie prog-rock set has a tendency toward
losing itself within needless shredding and over-the-top theatrics. This was not
the case when KID:NAP:KIN launched into a set of genre-straddling alternative rock.
Wasting no time at seizing the audience’s attention, the small but mighty three-piece
delivered a full dosage of metal-infused ear candy, best suited for the intellectually-inclined
headbanger, rock-‘n’ roller, punk rocker, or anyone who just prefers their music
loud.” Northeast Performer
"Rarely has the...post-punk genre sounded this urgent and this volatile. If anyone
told them that you cant have sweet Jeff Buckley kicking into a psycho rant with
axe chops of guitar, or a jazz chord break in a punk song, then I am glad they havent
listened. This record makes my testicles feel funny." The Noise
"Singer/guitarist Dan Ellis has an obvious passion for his music and his vocal style
fervently defines the sound of KID:NAP:KIN. Ellis tosses his vocals around like
an abused rag doll; one minute he lightly hums over a smooth, clean chord, and the
next, he is screaming bloody murder along with backup vocalist and drummer Patrick
Hanlin. While not for everyone, the music is performed with virtuosity and talent.
It’s unclear exactly what their message is or where they are headed, but one thing
is certain: KID:NAP:KIN will not go quietly." Northeast Performer
"The judgment here is that these guys will go places further than just Allston or
Brighton." Boston Herald
"Progressive, kinda avant garde and WAY original. They obviously put a lot of time/thought/energy
into it and should be proud. The guys all play well and you can tell there's a fair
amount of theory goin' on." Tommy Aldridge (drummer for Ozzy Osbourne & Whitesnake!
Rock.)
"The translation from great lyrics to actual musical content is flawless..." Future-Breed.com
Like most people reading this review, the moniker of the band almost made me skip
over this release. However, I decided to give the band’s new EP Touring The Riot
Scene, and upon completion, I was glad I did not let my preconceived judgments get
the best of me. Throughout Touring The Riot Scene, KID:NAP:KIN layer quirky, angular
guitar attacks over vocals that range from smooth crooning to full-out spastic screams...The
Riot Scene is a satisfying listen. Absolute Punk
"An odd-time indie rock attack...truly original music that challenges the notions
of what rock is supposed to be." Berklee Groove
"The number of times I've seen KID:NAP:KIN live is obscene. They're that good…This
EP is a survey course in musicianship, no doubt--KID:NAP:KIN succeeds where so many
School of Musical Masturbation bands have failed: they put the soul back into the
technical. It's about time somebody did...I'm so tired of pretending I like Pat
Metheny." Mike from Bang Camaro
KID:NAP:KIN will change the way you like your rock. Stop listening in vain for your
next fix, the pounding odd-meter rhythms and jazz-infused melodies that make your
soul turn, come from KID:NAP:KIN. Boston’s Aggro Indie Assault has been making a
name for themselves on the scene for two and a half years.. "...best suited for
the intellectually-inclined headbanger, rock-'n'roller, punk rocker, or anyone who
just prefers their music loud," (Northeast Performer) KID:NAP:KIN released their
debut EP, ‘Touring The Riot Scene’ in December 2006 on Sidehatch Entertainment and
most recently released 'Hush Now...' produced by Mike Cosgrove.
