We wax enthusiastic about everything from Roky Erickson to folk music from Mali, from Junior Wells to the Incredible String Band. And we're just as happy to fix you up with Jack Johnson as we are the latest garage-rock we're championing.

Hakkımda: John Kiefer couldn't find the blues and jazz records he was looking for in Lawrence, Kansas in 1959. A few years out of the service, and a few credit hours short of a Bachelor's at the University of Kansas, John parlayed his frustration into a new business called Kief's Records. Initially, he hadn't much of a business plan, not beyond the assumption that there must be others like him who were looking for Muddy Waters records. They would be his customers. It wasn't easy going at first, but he perservered. And eventually thrived, becoming one of America's greatest and most influential record shops.
Kief's has been a rack jobber. And a one-stop. But mostly we've been a service oriented retailer. Eventually the company moved into the home electronics business. And then the mobile sound business. Today, Kief's operates two locations. Kief's Audio/Video is the Midwest's premier spot for home audio and video, and for custom design and installation, as well as mobile audio and video. Kief's A/V also features a selection of top catalog sellers and supports Coalition of Independent Music Stores(CIMS)projects. Kief's is a founding member of CIMS, on board since 1995.
Kief's Downtown Music opened in 1998. KDM is also CIMS affiliated and packs an incredibly cool selection of music on compact disc and vinyl into a nifty little shotgun building in downtown Lawrence, built in the 1880's. With an experienced and enthusiastic staff, KDM provides the quintessential indie record store experience. Come to KDM -great music will be playing. And we're always ready to talk music.

Great to hear from you, and thanks for the kind words.
Yeah, "Days Have Gone By," to quote the bard, but I'm delighted to find you guys are still going strong and bucking the ghastly trends in the "record industry."
