Founded in September 2005, KilkennyMusic.com was launched to serve one purpose - support and promote local music within Kilkenny.
Over three years on and KilkennyMusic.com is stronger than ever. To date we have worked with over 100 individual acts, launched a new gig series in the form of The One Take Sessions, launched and maintained the Sound System Podcast (moved from a monthly to weekly podcast show), have built up a solid photo and audio archive of gigs in Kilkenny from 2005 and we continue to grow and evolve.
The website serves as an information portal for those involved in the music scene in Kilkenny and those looking to visit Kilkenny and sample some of the musical offerings at hand. We don’t just promote our own shows. Yes, we organise a variety of showcase nights during the year but we aim to promote music of all walks taking place around the city and county.
Through KilkennyMusic.com you can catch daily music video updates, the latest gig listings, band news from around the county, details on touring bands, music festivals and more. There is also a vibrant community forum available here with active daily discussion on all things musical.
SOUND SYSTEM PODCAST
Join us online each Wednesday night for the Sound System Podcast (running since October 2006) with your hosts Ken McGuire (kenmc) and Ross Costigan (oss237). Each week we take four acts, four tracks and a load of chat about the local music scene, upcoming gigs and strange sightings online.
ONE TAKE SESSIONS
The One Take Sessions, our flagship alternative music night, runs every third Thursday from March to December each year. Full details are available at OneTakeSessions.com with the 2009 series commencing on Thursday March 12th.
BATTLE OF THE BANDS
KilkennyMusic.com are proud judges and sponsors of the Battle Of The Bands in Kilkenny. This year saw SOUTH crowned champions with KERBSTOMP runners up (September 21st 2008). Registration for the 2009 competition will open in the new year.

Fancy a chance to become a resident DJ with Last Rhythm Sessions and get the chance to play alongside some top international and Irish DJ's including a warm up set for the legendary Justin Robertson on the 12th June.
Then send us a DJ mix no longer than 40 minutes. Please specify the equipment used to make your set.
This competition is open to anyone who plays House, Electro, Trance or Techno and is looking to get some regular gigs with a top promotions company.
We will be having a live DJ battle with the top 3 Dj's squaring off to decide an overall winner who will get to play a warm up set for The Legendary JUSTIN ROBERTSON on Friday June 12th at the Zoo Club Kilkenny :) The other 2 finalists will not be forgotten and will still be in for a chance to play at some great gigs this year.
