Original resident of the Oberbilk borough of Kraftwerk City aka Düsseldorf, Germany, Killa Calles is beat producer, MC, host of his monthly radio show "Da real HipHop"(since ..98!) at the local public radio station, concert promoter for his "Back to the Future Flavour" series supporting mainly local bands, you name it !
Together with his homie Simmel from the group Nimzwai he is running his own studio called D-Square - as a reminicence to the influential sound of NYC's D&D (R.I.P.!) and of course for the double D in their hometown also known as "Düsseldope". For some pictures look to the right @ "sounds like".
Killa Calles is also a founding member of the group Icklack Squad, a loose collective of different rap-crews from Düsseldorf and surrounding cities, who originally found together during a weekly rhyme cypher in a local youth center called "Youth center at the Icklack" due to the streets name meaning something like" old oak pool" in old german.
Together they produced two tapes (2001 & 2003) and a CD (2005).
Besides his beats and rhymes on the Icklack releases, Killa Calles himself had his first tape out in 2000 and some of his tracks or freestyles on several samplers and compilations like "Wortgewand" "Rhein Ruhr Pakt" or the "Beatz aus der Bude" series from colognes DJ Lifeforce.
In 2002 he independently put out his 12" with the Düsseldorf anthem "Düsseldorfs Finest" featuring Jesen & Simmel from Nimzwai. A low budget video to this song made it to national music television it was played in the "mixery raw deluxe show" on viva tv and later on it was in the dial-in rotation of "get the clip" on viva plus getting some weekly airplay.

We already did the shooting of a video for the song "Oberbilk" right in Calles 'hood. Damn, it's still not finished and needs to be cutted. Neverending story! But now I'm confident that I found someone who finishes the job for me. Always independent, always on da hustle. Hopefully you enjoyed the spooky artwork done by Joe from the Majo Brothers as much as Calles does himself.

The federal german state of North-Rhine Westphalia succed in its crackdown on public peoples radio!!!
The ruling conservative-liberal coalition has now to establish a law limiting the commitment of private radio stations to broadcast public people radio shows from up to 3 hours in the evening now to only one hour a day from 21 to 22 pm.
This means that a lot of shows will loose their place and the death of peoples radio!
News update:
I will continue to broadcast with my "Da Real HipHop" show, but sadly it will be from now .. down to a 8 week turnus, thanks to these suckers!
