I've been buying and receiving records since I was 16 years old. Therefore it's hard to sum up my favorites in a single paragraph. I guess in music, as in art, books, life, I like slightly deranged, fucked up things. It's gotta have a good melody and some catchiness though.
I prefer 2 minute songs above 12 minute ones, lo-fi indie electronica above minimalistic, housey stuff and somehow I always end up visiting psychedelic shows although I don't like what psychedelic sounds do to my head. Being vague by nature, I prefer to stay sharp as possible.
I've got thousands of cd's and records stacked up in the house, but plan to categorize and throw away the ones I haven't listened to for more than two years. Scratch that, the ones I don't think I'll ever listen to again.

Kill All Hipsters
The best new music is pretty uncategorisable these days. Strictly speaking it ain’t dance music, but it’s not guitar music either. It’s a hyper-eclectic, hard to pin down hybrid of electro-vibes, indie-mentality, messy beats, edgy guitars and an uncompromising diy-punk-spirit.
Arnold Scheepmaker ( a Dutch dj/journalist who dj’s frequently at clubs like Paradiso, Melkweg, Rotown, Tivoli and 013 and who writes for Live XS and Vice magazine ) thinks that’s pretty exciting and feels that it reflects the way most of us are living right now.

Arnold can be found dj'ing at the strangest places. Basically, the music he plays out overlaps with what indie kids, electro types or ' eclectic ' people like, but the range of records he spins is much wider than that. Sometimes he'll let huge audiences dance to obscure records, at other times he'll try to convince industry insiders that a commercially succesfull song is actually really good. At all times he believes you should never be distracted by any way of media hype whatsoever. A good record is a good record, whether it sells 2 or 2 million copies.
Arnold has a love/hate-relationship with a lot of hipster-indie-types. They're a part of his audience but they tend to find style and profile more important than content. Sure, style can be an essential part of what a band/dj does, but content should always outweigh style. Therefore: Kill All Hipsters.
In the daytime Arnold also does loads of interviews and writes reviews/columns for monthly Dutch music magazine Live XS, Vice and Havana. In the past, amongst others, He's worked for: Blvd, OOR, Het Parool, Samsonic and Music Minded.
When he's not working he hangs out with his girlfriend Tessa or gets drunk with his best friend Terence.

Two abstract urban meditations composed by French visual artist Jérôme Schlomoff.
Both filmed with a pinhole movie 35mm camera, these two films create mysterious and eerie portraits of the two cities, a ghostly New York City under a snowstorm and a poetical exploration of Amsterdam as a city suspended between past, present and future, in a visual voyage filmed at some of the city’s building sites.
Both films are going to be presented with a live soundtrack performed by experimental hip-hop producer Smooth One and bass player Mouard Baali.
Smooth One biographical notes:
Smooth One comes from the abstract hip-hop scene. He wrote with Dj cam the two first album in 1996 and 1998, Underground Vibes and Substance. After a live album recorded in « Transmusicales » festival in Rennes and many remix for Air, Tek9 and Silent Poets, Smooth One decided to work alone, mainly on film music, and managing his own label, Superflux, which also published the soundtrack of
