The members of Killed By Bears played together in the well respected Portland indie-folk pop band 'Dearest, Crown' until their lead singer/songwriter moved away from Oregon in the fall of 2005. The four remaining musicians decided to stick together, now focusing on the excellent songwriting of guitarist Ryan Martin. With an obvious love of 80s & 90s jangle/power pop, the group found themselves playing more upbeat, driving music. Todd, Leif and Ario used all manner of tactics, including flattery and intimidation, to get Ryan to increase his songwriting output and finish lyrics. They began recording the new songs early in 2006. A new name was chosen, some basement and loft gigs were played - as well as headlining Patsypalooza '06 and '07 at the McKenzie River - and their self-titled album was released to the public in the summer of 2007.

I appreciate the support - thank you! Your band came to my attention a while back when a friend of a friend originally from your area asked if I had heard about you - I hadn't so I searched and found you. Please take a moment when you can and post a comment or send a message about my recent blog and how you found it - Thanks!

Update: Because the song wasn't available for download, I committed a felony and stole it. Now it's number 5 on my iTunes' top 25 played songs ... Tranlsation? When does the record come out?
This is Daniel. I love your material man and I would love to play some shows with you guys maybe both here in Portland and in Corvalis. Let me know when you're in town and we'll figure something out. Later.
