Sounds Like
"After listening to Killing Phantoms' music I felt as if I were transported directly back to the 1960's; they've managed to embrace that 60's pop rock flavor we all remember fondly and love, managing to add a more modern downtown indie, NYC-based vibe at the same time. Anyone who is searching for that classic 60's pop rock sound with some new interpretations, Killing Phantoms should be high up on the list of new music to check out."
-John Carey, NYC Bassist & Producer
"Killing Phantoms' textured melodies bring me back to a much different time. A different time when music was good. The hooks reel me in, all the songs make me stay."
Rocking you gently. And sometimes hard. Killing Phantoms grew out of a common idea of making music that would soundtrack your life, with songs that won't leave your head, and a sound that helps soothe your soul. Phuong Nguyen is originally from the land of lakes and frigidity, Minneapolis, MN, playing as a singer/songwriter under Phuong You Norway. Moving to New York in 2004 with a head full of Beatles harmonies, Big Muff fuzz, and a not unsentimental heart, started playing shows around the East Village and the Lower East Side. Over the years, he was fortunate enough to play together with many friends, now christened Killing Phantoms (thanks to John LaBombard, Mags LaBombard, John Alber, Jonathan Curtiss, Mike LaBombard) who have collectively sweat and rocked through 07 - 08. A self-titled album "Killing Phantoms" was released in Oct 2007. An EP was recorded earlier in the year with Ray Ketchem of Elk City, titled Orange Road, was released in the Spring of 08. After more shows and a little hibernation, Phuong retreated to the Seaside Lounge in Dec 08 in Brooklyn, NY to record the follow up record. With great guests and friends (including Steve Milton and Dave Horowitz formerly of The Cloud Room on accordion and guitar, respectively, Roxanne Khamsi on cello, Brad Thurow on piano and organ, Jonathan Curtiss on drums) and the awesome dudes at Seaside behind the board (Mitch Rackin, Josh Clark, Pat McCarthy) fun and great sounds were made. Mixed by engineer extraordinaire Alan Ford at Kampo Studios in the Spring of 09, and mastered by Paul Gold at Salt Mastering, the album is DONE!!!! Entitled "Heroes Night", it represents an evolution for Killing Phantoms, showing a greater depth and maturity. Looking for release this fall. Meanwhile, look for NYC area shows with special guests!!!

It was good to see you too! Next time we'll have to hang out more. I'll let you know when I end up there again. And yeah I have a bunch of pictures...I'll get those to you soon!
I see you've posted your schedule for the next few months. Looks like I'm not going to be able to see a show when I come to NYC next weekend, but now I can plan and maybe I can make it to the April show.
