About Kill Surf City

Taking the name from a 'Jesus And Mary Chain' track, Kill Surf City formed a band in 2006 bursting onto the local circuit with flamboyant, melodramatic and visually theatrical live performances. With a full set of live songs after 2 months of forming and a string of live shows with bands such as The Holloways, The Kooks, Mumm-Ra, Captain, The Subways and The Longcut, the band put together a very rough self titled demo with tracks, ‘Celebrity’, ‘6am’, ‘Speed’ & ‘A Picture Of You’ gaining the band enough recognition to set them up for a big year in 2007. To kick off the year after a mention in the NME, the band landed a prize slot on the Topman Unsigned Stage along with other Hull bands The Neat and The Talks at the Leeds Carling Festival. With a successful performance at Leeds Festival the band came home and booked studio time to record new material and later went on to sign a distribution deal through Square Peg Round Hole Records. A double A-side single was then released on limited edition 7" vinyl with tracks ‘A Common Interest in Silence’ and ‘All I Heard (is that she was dead)’. This moved Kill Surf City on to shoot a video capturing their vintage, victorian-esque style with director Chris Panell promoting, haunting track ‘All I Heard’ which later became featured on MTV2. Kill Surf City are now working on new material. Earlier in the year tracks ‘Little Miss Enigmatic’ and ‘City Reapers’ were recorded at Fairview studios and are now out to buy on i-tunes.
