   About Kill The Dance Floor
Lucky

"It’s got the hooks, and it’s got those electronic sounds that are all the rage these days. On this EP, the guitars supply the rhythm while the electronic noises and keyboard provide the melody to follow through the songs. It’s a solid EP, and this could be a band to make a note of, or at least keep an eye on as they grow." - Buzzgrinder.com

"From the first notes of Republic, it's not hard to hear those well-worn influences: Joy Division, Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Cure. "You're the target worth lying for," sings Rene nonchalantly as Raul and bassist Mike Cardenas form a rigidly '80s rhythm behind him. From "Montreal" to "New Love," there's nigh a new wave headstone left unturned as the Espinosas lovingly survey a decade remembered most for skinny ties and tight-fitting pants. Serving both as a tribute and tongue-in-cheek statement of purpose, The NuWave Republic has its charm.....Although clearly derivative, there certainly aren't many bands investigating this territory these days, and Mahteo does a credible job of working in those cheesy keyboard flourishes." - Dallas Observer

"Former Swivel masterminds the Espinosa brothers return with dirge, melody and rock that has drive. This band will wow you with a turbulent combination of indie sonic noise and emotional vocals." - Ayo (102.1FM The Edge DJ)

"...I notice songs with great musicianship. The music blends several true indie influences to create a new feel. The keyboard is the most upfront 80s factor and present throughout most of the songs, but the guitars are what really set this album apart, ranging from crunchy to stringy to tangled and jangled to intricately melodic. The drums keep toes tapping and twist together with the keyboards to keep all of the music cohesive and interesting...Lucky for us, Mahteo [Kill The Dance Floor] are not ripped right out of the 80s, and the influence is taken to just the right measure. This music is purely modern, but it also contains a nod to mid and late 90s indie rock pioneers." - Indie Vision Music

"MAHTEO [KIll The Dance Floor] focus a lot more on creating dynamic atmospheres through textural keyboards and rocking riffs...the gem of the disc, "Ahi Te Encontrare," reminds me of MONEEN. To me, that combination sounds pretty killer." - Pastepunk

"Dallas indie rock band keeps true to their album’s title by delivering stand-up-and-clap “nu-wave”, an interesting alamode of indie rock cum New Wave. Complete with retro-sounding synths, “The NuWave Republic” also tosses in some of their Spanish roots to some extent...Vocally it’s rife with emotion while the guitars break barriers of textures crafting an atmosphere that is both catchy and dynamic." - Smother

"...what is undeniable is that Mahteo [Kill The Dance Floor] is taking noise rock, Indie rock, and a teensy tiny bit of New Wave to make music that strikes the listener as something new altogether. Despite being five songs long, "The NuWave Republic" is poised to make the band famous longer than the approximate 15 minutes that the album lasts. With its electronica explosion, "Montreal" controls the chaos with its interesting juxtaposition of what seems to be unharmonious sounds. The high pitched "whines" of the synthesizer jolt the listener's attention, keeping them captivated throughout all the melodic twists and turns. Although the beginning of "Ahi Te Encontrare" starts out on a haunting tone, it evolves into an emotion-invoking journey narrated in the original Latin language of love, Spanish. "To Manifest Like Breath" may sound like melody is in loops, but unexpected musical elements are added throughout the song to make it not monotonous and unique. Keep your eye on these Indie rockers. "The NuWave Republic" is something new indeed, and hopefully, there is more from Mahteo [Kill The Dance Floor] to come. 8 out of 10" Magic Stick Mish/www.suburbanhorror.com

BIO

This party is big enough for one more Indie/Dance-Rock band to join the stage and Dallas, TX-based Kill The Dance Floor are just what the masses need to keep the party going until the sun rises. Kill The Dance Floor was started by brothers Mick and Raul Espinosa after the demise of their previous band MAHTEO a year ago. Millions of rehearsals later, drummer Paddric Ryan and keyboardist Billy Young, both trained audio engineers, were recruited and a new group was born! The quartet rocks out like a combination of Tokyo Police Club, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers and Metric. Their debut album, NuWave Republic, contains all the hallmarks of a classic Dance/Rock album: Indie-Rock rhythms fly alongside New Wave beats and synthesizers while non-chalant Interpol/Joy Division-esque vocals tell stories of youth in urban Dallas. KTDF is back in the studio writing and recording their next album with Grammy-winning producer Stuart Sikes who has lent his hand and ear to The White Stripes, Cat Power and Loretta Lynn.
