Kill the Ego
Kill the Ego is a rock band from Oxford, Mississippi, a town in the northeastern part of a state where nothing has ever happened, especially not rock and roll, hill country blues, race riots, sit-ins, or Graceland 2.
Kill the Ego writes songs about complicated humans, but they haven’t actually met any because everything’s just fine in the town, state, and country where they live. No one declares war, no one grows old, no one falls in love or has premarital (or post-marital) sex, and no one ever dies (on Sunday). It’s a static, happy place, a lot like Southern Baptist Heaven.
Sometimes they drag all the amps, cabinets, and drums out into the back yard and aim everything at the woods. Then they turn it up and blow all the squirrels, possums, birds, empty beer cans, and bodies out of the trees. This makes Kill the Ego feel alive.
