It's like jazz rock soul that gets to sit at the cool kids table. It's like Joe Jackson a little bit but it can have the grit of Joe Cocker, or the melodic nature of Elvis Costello. And it smells like Reggae sometimes.
As the golden sun sets over the Pacific, the sounds of an overdriven Rhodes piano drift through the air, playing with the waves. The beach has worked its way into the music of a man whose emotions roll in and out with the tide, songs about a love that couldn't last. It is here, between the sand and the city, where you'll come to recognize the source of Kilo Bravo's jazz and reggae vibe; a distinctive style honed in the piano bars of Los Angeles, one last call at a time. Kilo Bravo's frontman Mike Oristian, a play-by-ear talent, a truly passionate performer, has let the simplicity of the standards wash into the rich tones of his gritty vintage gear to bring the piano into a whole new light. Atop this, a soulful, sandy voice that begs forgiveness to beauties come and gone. As if Joe Jackson and John Mayer were shipwrecked with only a pianet and a bottle of rum over which to share their confessions....
