Formed in Cork, Ireland December 2003, Kilterr quickly built a reputation as a powerful live act playing with the likes of The Pale, The Marshall Stars and Alphastates. The band quickly built up a loyal following and played their first headline gig at Corks Cyprus Avenue to their biggest audience yet. The time came for the band to hit the rehearsal room and write some new material. Kilterr went into Spectre Studios with Graham Finn at the end of 2004 and completed their debut 4 track promo CD in January 2005. The CD has received regular airplay on Corks Red FM, Campus FM and Freak FM as well as positive reviews from Irish publications. In March 2005 Kilterr launched their website www.kilterr.com featuring press, latest news, free mp3 downloads and photo galleries.
Kilterr have a unique sound, with a taste of many genres including rock, metal, indie and punk with a celtic vibe. Along with the distinctive driving rhythm section which is key to the Kilterr sound, Barry John Mahers crunching guitar and expressive vocals are joined by piano to colour the energetic sound giving the wall of sound its final touches.
Kilterr launched their debut promo CD to a packed house at Corks Cyprus Avenue in March 2005. One of the songs on this release featured on alternative radio station Freak FMs Freaqualizer compilation CD. Kilterr has also played the Cork leg of the 2005 IMRO (www.imro.ie) showcase tour to a great response from both press and A&R representatives. In October 2005 Kilterrs What about me? reached number 2 in the Irish unsigned MP3 charts at www.cpu.ie.
Kilterr released a four track EP called "Reel Me In For Kicks" in March 2006 but split up in October 2006... Keep an eye out for band members reincarnated in new projects!
