Interests

  • General

    I take my role as "dog mom" to Junior and Lassie pretty seriously.

    I also volunteer as a moderator on an internet message board for Narcolepsy patients and their families.

    I'm addicted to a website called MyDeathSpace.com, which archives MySpace users' pages for posterity once they pass on.

    I play fantasy sports -- primarily football. For the 2008 season I'm playing in 2 picks leagues, 2 rotisserie leagues, and I'm doing a highest-scoring-player-by-position thing too. Shameless plug for Guess This Shit Right (GTSR.net); a fun fantasy site run by a real person, not a corporation.

  • Movies

    I don't go to the movies very often -- we do more rentals. With my Narcolepsy, it is difficult sometimes to stay awake through an entire movie in just one sitting.. so I find it easier to rent. That way I can watch it a couple of times and hopefully get the whole story!

    Last movie seen in a theatre:
    The Transporter 3
  • Television

    I never miss:
    * NFL Football, every Sunday & Monday (damn NFL network, no Thursday games here)

    Shows on my DVR:
    * Fringe (50 times better than the X-Files - really!)
    * Heroes

    I'll Watch If They're On:
    * Dragon's Den
    * How Clean Is Your House?
    * MMA Shows (EliteXC, UFC, WEC, anything MMA)
    * Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (both the US and BBC versions)
    * Tim Gunn's Guide To Style
    * What Not To Wear (US version)
  • Books

    As of 12/10/08, I'm currently reading:
    * Co-Active Coaching, 2nd Edition: New Skills for Coaching People Toward Success in Work and, Life
    - by Laura Whitworth, Karen Kimsey-House, Henry Kimsey-House, and Phillip Sandahl

    Next on the list:
    * Too Fat to Fish
    - by Artie Lange and Anthony Bozza
  • Heroes

    * Dad
    * Pat Tillman
    * Howard Stern, Defender of the First Amendment

Blurbs

About me:

I'm in the process of completely revamping MySpace as of 12/10/08, so please be patient if the page is under construction for awhile.

Happily married to the love of my life, and "dog mom" to two retired racing greyhounds. I also have Narcolepsy and suffer from 4 of the 5 symptoms of this treatable, but incurable, neurological condition.

My husband is staying in San Antonio, TX until our home sells. In the meantime, I will be living in Charlotte, NC and working as a Learning & Development Specialist in the Healthcare field.

I was laid off from my previous job as a Manager of Training & Development in July of 2008, and it took until December for me to find a job. Thanks, economy. We're living in different states purely for financial reasons: while we have 2 living expenses, it makes sense for both of us to be working. Once we have a contract on the house in San Antonio, he'll bring the dogs and join me in Charlotte. Let's all send positive messages to the universe that we want this to happen quickly and smoothly!

Who I'd like to meet:

Tony Romo, because he looks like he's having so much fun at his job. Someone who enjoys their work that much has just got to be inspiring to meet.

Anna Paquin, since I've heard from so many people that I resemble her. I think once I finish my weight loss transformation that will probably be a truer statement.

I would like someday to very clearly meet in a dream the guardian angel(s), ascended master(s), and spirit guide(s) that watch over me. I don't want to have to wait until heaven for that.

Since I'm moving to Charlotte in January, I'll definitely be looking to meet new friends too: greyhound lovers and positive thinkers preferred!

    Thanks Kimberly! I appreciate it! I'm working at an office about 25 minutes from home. I'm glad I'm not back to commuting 2 hours into Boston everyday...lol.
    I just received my license to practice in NH yesterday, so now all I need is my malpractice insurance to come through and I'm good to go! How is your new job? You and Will all settled in NC now?
