Using her own poetry, journal entries and personal instant messages with two of her very best friends, Kim Caldwell explores the theory of shared experiences leading to shared emotions that evoke a shared healing. She dissects the topics that are difficult to digest such as sexual abuse and domestic violence, while analyzing the role one’s history plays in their current representation of life. She makes the connection between past and present while taking you on a journey through healing.

A Black Man’s life is often marred with contradiction. From the moment that they can walk and talk Black Boys are taught to be strong. It is a sense of strength, usually, packaged in the form of bravado. A false power that they carry forth into the world… creating a shell of insensitivity. Then, armed with a detachment from their core emotions- somehow they are suppose to walk hand in hand with the rest of humanity…. judged on their achievements and net worth. It is the destruction of the human soul. Vandalism examines this wreckage through an honest and raw collection of poetry, short stories, and essays…. A MUST READ!!!

It is my prayer that somewhere within my talent there lives the ability to impact Black Men. I write through our eyes. My words come from the passion that can only be understood through the journey Black males experience on the trail to manhood- with all of its’ booby-traps and pitfalls. Our struggle is amazing… complex… and original. It has to be examined and celebrated… that is my mission.

She: Kim "kimotion" Caldwell
______________________________________________________________
"kimotion", which is a play on words to describe the quiet riot she invokes when she speaks is a Louisiana native who cut her teeth in the same "open mic" scene that groomed HBO Def Poets Malik Salaam, Amir Sulaiman, and Georgia Me. She exemplifies grace and dignity in her quiet demeanor.
However quiet, her demeanor is no indication of the riot brewing inside. She is a walking, talking dichotomy... She is soft and sensual and intellectual and honest and loving and... she brings all of that into her stage performance. She speaks to the woman, for the woman, and the girl inside.
"kimotion" has released two a capella collections of her poetry - the first entitled griot...why i write and the second entitled black butterfly.
Kim has penned an eclectic mix of poetry, personal journal entries and email conversations entitled ramblings, rantings and lamentations : from the collective consciousness of black women.
Also a photographer, Kim is traveling the world documenting the homeless for a body of work that with intertwine the mediums of photography and poetry to produce A Place To Lay My Head. Not to be limited, Kim also has produced a line of wood burned purses and is currently working on a fashion line named nnuendo...
Thanks for the friendship and support!!! I know I've been quiet for a while but I'm working on some new stuff so please check out my page in the coming months. One!
