Kim Appleby: British singer/songwriter also known as half of the pop duo “Mel and Kim” who brought producer trio “Stock, Aiken & Waterman” their first number one single in 1987 with the mega hit “Respectable”. Mel and Kim achieved 4 top 10 singles from their first album “FLM” as well as international success, including 2 number one dance hits in America “Respectable and Showing out” Tragically Mel was diagnosed with cancer and lost her battle in January 1990.
Kim returned as a solo Artist releasing her self-tilted album "Kim Appleby" which contained the big hit "Don't worry" (which was nominated for an Ivor Novello award) as well as G.L.A.D, "If you cared" and "Mamma"....Her second Album "Breakaway" was released and made hits of the title track, as well as the single "Light of the world". She also went on to collaborate with Mike Stock and Matt Aiken on the single "Free Spirit"
Over the years Kim has been involved in TV work, staring in the popular TV series "Doctors" as well as touring the Theatre with "The Vagina Monologues"...She also hosted her own show “Keeping it cool with Kim Appleby”, on one of the Internets first live radio stations "Storm Live"....Kim now works closely with the "British Academy of Composers and Songwriters" (BACS) as well as being a part of the Album committee, she has also for the past 5 years chaired the "Best Contemporary song" category for the "Ivor Novello's"...Kim has been spending some time in Europe writing with various artists, producers/song-writers and has recently signed a licensing deal in North America, with the legendary dance label "Strictly Rhythm/ Redstick recordings" for her new release "High". Hi Kim.....your new music is great....I used to be a big fan of Mel and Kim when i lived in the UK many moons ago....your songs then were an anthem of that time....hope you might listen to my humble offerings sometime....all the best...David
