Gospel music is my absolute favorite genre, both contemporary and traditional, and the late Luther Vandross will always be my favorite male R & B singer. Whitney Houston is my favorite pop/R&B female artist.
Movies
Some of my favorites are The Color Purple, To Kill a Mocking Bird, Malcolm X, Driving Miss Daisy, Pretty Woman, What's Love Got to Do With It, Forrest Gump and The American President which is one of the last movies my mom and I saw together and enjoyed before she became ill. Actually, I could list so many others but these come to mind immediately.
Television
If I can help it, I try not to miss any episodes of Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice. Of course, I also tape The Oprah Winfrey Show daily, and I watch most episodes of The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch and Larry King Live. Additionally, Will could watch the live version of CNN for hours every day, so I enjoy watching that channel as well.

Her novels have frequented numerous bestseller lists, including The New York Times and those in The Washington Post, Publishers Weekly, Essence Magazine, Upscale Magazine, Emerge Magazine, Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, Wal-Mart, The Dallas Morning News, and The Austin Chronicle to name a few and both BEHIND CLOSED DOORS and CASTING THE FIRST STONE were #1 Blackboard bestsellers for four consecutive months in both 1997 and 2000. BEHIND CLOSED DOORS was the #1 Blackboard Best-selling book for paperback fiction in 1997.
In addition, Ms. Roby’s first novel was nominated for Blackboard’s 1998 and 1999 Fiction Book of the Year Award, and she received the Blackboard Fiction Book of the Year Award in 2001 for CASTING THE FIRST STONE. She is also the 2006 and 2007 recipient of the Author of the Year – Female award presented by the African-American Literary Award Show in New York, the recipient of the 1998 First-Time Author Award from Chicago’s Black History Month Book Fair and Conference, and her fifth novel, A TASTE OF REALITY, was a 2004 finalist for the Atlanta Choice Awards sponsored by the Atlanta Daily World. Additionally, TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING received a 2004 Patron Choice Award from the Central Mississippi Regional Library System.
Each of Ms. Roby’s novels have dealt with very real issues, including social status, gambling addiction, infidelity, single motherhood, infertility, sibling rivalry, corruption within the church, domestic violence, sexual abuse, care-giving of a parent, racial and gender discrimination in the workplace, sexual harassment, overweight issues, and female illnesses to name a few.
Ms. Roby resides in Illinois with her husband, Will. Her thirteenth title, A DEEP DARK SECRET, will be released on September 29, 2009 and her fourteenth, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PRAY FOR on January 20, 2010.
My favorite book is Your Blues Ain't Like Mine by the late Bebe Moore Campbell, my favorite Walter Mosley book is The Man in My Basement, and I thoroughly enjoyed and still refer to The Prayer of Jabez and The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. Instead of always wondering how we can benefit from something ourselves, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success teaches you to focus on how you can serve or help others and I love that philosophy.

Regrets, none of us can't say we haven't lived without regrets, because we all have. It's how we learn, accept and acknowledge the regret that matters. Saying you are sorry and forgiving the cause and effect of the regret is what will move you on, holding on to the regrets and its cause and effect will keep you captive and captivating: defeat, loneliness, sadness, fear, hurt, depression and much, much more. Release it and you open yourself up to a whole world of possibilities; love, hope, strength, friendship, relationship, self-empowerment, improvement, success, dreams, visions, healing, prosperity, happiness and much, much, much more. Learn to forgive yourself and others. Regret is a heavy load to carry and it so heavy that is slows you down and holds you back. Dump your load and release the regret, by FORGIVING. You know you're "Waiting to Exhale" AGAPE
