About me:
I was born March 8th, 1966; in St. Petersburg Florida. I moved to the Bar Harbor/Ellsworth area of Maine when I was two and lived there until I was eighteen. Upon turning 18 I moved to NY and have lived here ever since except for a few years where I lived in the San Francisco/Bay area of California. I also lived for 6 months in Youngstown Ohio in 1984.
I'm a walking contradiction. I can be very romantic, and yet pragmatic when it comes to society. I am scientific and yet I love writing romantic and philosophical poetry. I enjoy philosophy and religion and feel that the more I know the less I know and the less I can be sure of anything.
I have come to my personal belief that all the major religions have a truth to be told and it’s all metaphorical. The way is subjective. Like different languages have their different words for an item like a rose. Dig down it all comes down to equilibrium. In society its the balance between the individual and society. I have never been good at balance. I'm more a pendulum that swings back and forth.
I'm amazed that the world is really governed by a common structure that we can all understand. I wake up and see something new or discover something and I am a child all over again filled with the joy and excitement of life. That the same phase change that drives an absorption refrigeration system is what is happening when we have a hurricane is like magic. Phase change is what enables new hydrogen storage technology such as metal hydrides. There are many things like that for me and in science in general and I get as excited as a six your old on Christmas morning. Once you can see the pattern and see how everything is connected the entire world becomes enchanted.
For people here who remember the movie "Short Circuit" I am like the robot at the library. "Input, more input lots of data. (LOL)
So I drive some people crazy because I’m always asking questions, and or talking about ideas. I can go from history to science to mythic literature. So I do indeed live within my head a lot and I do try to get in others heads. At the same time I am a romantic at my core. I still believe that true love never dies. People accuse me of always looking back to the past when I should put it in forward as one friend advised me. I can only say that everyone who has touched my life is precious. I have had loves and was forced to move on. The lesson I learned was that loving the other person was the gift. Expecting it to be returned and to stay the same forever was the reason for the pain. Fighting to keep things always the same is fighting for death. For it seems to me that life is always changing and when we fight change we die a little to be reborn when the change (future) finally comes through. Ok so I am a romantic dreamer and all starry eyed! At the same time I can look at it scientifically and say that the universe is caught in an endless cycle just like a phase change or evaporation cycle. We are born of star dust. We are all molecular proof of reincarnation in a physical sense of the stars. I waver on the spiritual because I have no rational basis except the desire that energy has an organization and a communication and intelligence that unifies the universe. When we die we become a part of that; our unique resonance a ripple in the void. It’s still the balance between individuality and society and in the end we can never see beyond two. One has no perspective and no other reference from which to know anything. One in this context might as well be 0.
So people you can see I know the nice men and women in the white jackets are coming for me any day now.
I love people with passions. I want to hear ideas and share mine. For any of you who have ever seen the PBS special “The Power of Myth”, by Joseph Campbell, I believe in his philosophy of Joyful participation in the sorrows of the world. If you have not seen it you will want to get the book or DVD. Blockbuster usually has it. You will love it. Campbell ties all the major religions together and shows that if we look at it metaphorically they are all saying the same thing. There is a universal truth. Heaven is not another dimension or out in space it’s within your heart and soul. Follow your bliss. (Reminds me of that cartoon when I was a kid. Follow your nose wherever it goes. Silly rabbit tricks are for kids.)
People with a passion are infectious. They fill you up with their energy. The atmosphere around them becomes electric. It’s a natural contact high. Find a history teacher who is passionate about history and they become not only better teachers but their enthusiasm will generate excitement and desire to know history even in those that have only a passing interest.
Personal physical passion well it takes your breath away. I love those kisses where you are afraid to breathe because you don’t want it to ever end. Those butterflies in your stomach and the dizziness in your head and you are living only in the moment. One second can be an eternity.
Well before I ramble on forever I will end this and post more later.

Who I'd like to meet:
I would love to meet you.
In general People with Passion for life. People who love to think and discuss ideas; as well as how they might be implemented.
There are many people I would like to meet but will never be able unless we can time travel or bring them back to life. Raise your hand if you would love to go back and debate with Aristotle or Descarte.
