I am a Pittsburgh based wedding photographer who believes that photography isn't something with which quality can be compromised. I often don't forward emails unless it is to support a cause that I feel strongly about and this just happens to be one of those times... I'm forwarding this to all my photo buddies as well as anyone else who just likes to take photos for a hobby as this will not only effect professionals... as trends go NY is usually the 1st to do anything and other cities could follow... if we allow this to happen who's to say it won't be illegeal to photograph anywhere! Please sign the petition and pass this along to others you may think will sign it to keep photographing on the streets of NY without a permit.

As you may have seen there is a proposal to change the rules regarding shooting on the streets of NYC. The proposed rules would require a permit, and for the photographer to carry $1,000,000.00 in liability insurance. (this could cost you as much as $1600.00 yr just to shoot on the streets of NYC.) I'm still in California. Have not sold the house yet so Virginia is on hold till then.
I have my Virginia Website up and have a wedding booked in July. Gotta love the net. Makes it hard though as I have to fly back.
