Your challenge not on the list? Send me a message and let me know.
By the way, MY biggest challenge in maintaining my weight loss is dealing food cravings under stress. I crave sweets and starches when under pressure (natural since the body wants to manufacture serotonin to bring about a feeling of calmness), so my secret weapons are baked sweet potatoes, herbal teas with a teaspoon of honey, and practicing stress management techniques like journaling and diaphramatic breathing regularly.
Now more about me...I love to travel and have been to 38 out of the 50 states. Most of that was business related, but still:)
Hobbies
I love to write, read, draw, paint, go to movies, and adventure hike
Exercise
I like variety and convenience, so I mostly use exercise DVDs. And I do it in the morning after my prayer time because I've learned the hard way that if I wait until later in the day, it will not get done!
I like the DVDs because you can fit them in anytime and you don't have to worry about the weather or making it to a class. I exercise 5-6 days a week now, for 45 minutes - 1 hour.
However when I was overweight, I could only exercise for 10 minutes at a time to start. As I got stronger and lighter, I added 5 minutes each week. Start where you are. The important thing is to start now.
You can get exercise DVDs online - a good site is www.collagevideo.com - or you can find a fair selection of exercise DVDs at Walmart or Target.
I also like to jump rope and alternate walking and jogging when the weather is nice. I don't like cold weather, so I ain't walking and jogging right now :)
Music
I enjoy contemporary Christian music most of all, so I like artists such as Smokey Norful, Fred Hammond, Judith Christie McAllister, and Mary Mary.
Movies
Here is a clip from a new DVD I just bought, Facing the Giants - I love this clip because it demonstrates the power of persistence when working on a goal.
Admittedly, I don't get to the theatre as much as I used to, but the most recent movie I saw was Enchanted and I loved it! I guess I'm just a softie for the romantic stuff.
Now if you want to go WAY back, then favorites are Imitation of Life, Splendor in the Grass, West Side Story, Some Like it Hot, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Television
My favorite T.V. shows include Dancing with the Stars, Heroes, Chuck, Pushing Daisies, and Grey's Anatomy.
Books
The book I just finished was recommended by a friend of mine and it's called 'Hinds Feet on High Places'.
It's a great book. It's an allegory about the challenges Christians go through in our quest for a closer walk with God.
The title comes from Habbukuk 3:19: "God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like hinds' feet, he makes me tread upon my high places."
Heroes
Jesus for continually teaching me how to love and giving me a role model to follow for abundant life
Miss Annette (everyone calls her that), my mother, who sometimes held down 3 jobs to support me and my sister as a single mom - she also taught me about the importance of having a strong work ethic and living in integrity
Abraham Lincoln for his persistance and courage to do the right thing even in the face of opposition
Oprah for her generosity
And everyone who is working toward a dream and might be afraid, but keeps on going anyway :)

About me:
Where I Was
"I was once 240 lbs and a size 22. Following his usual lecture about my need to lose weight, my former doctor added something new. In frustration, he said that the effect my obesity was having on my heart was like asking an engine designed for a Volkswagen to haul the weight of a Mack truck."
Hi, I’m Kimberly Floyd, a wellness coach, author, and speaker. If someone had told me back then that I would be running in 10K races, Salsa dancing, jump roping, and become certified as a wellness coach so I could assist others in reaching their ideal weight and living a healthy lifestyle, I would have laughed out loud!
Back then, my problem wasn’t lack of knowledge about health. I was an R.N. so I knew about nutrition and the consequences of poor health habits. My problem was that I had an unhealthy relationship with food. Food was my source of comfort and nurturing. Because I was stressed out in my career and unhappy in it besides, I ate to stuff my feelings down. I ate when I was sad, mad, bored, tired, anxious, discouraged, or simply because the food was there. I trusted food to help me cope with life. But I put my trust in the wrong place.
The Turnaround
A couple of years after my doctor’s "Mack truck" comment, I had an episode of severe chest pain. And during that episode, God spoke to me: "It is not supposed to be this way." Right then, I chose to believe Him and how I changed! I started facing the truth: food was taking the place in my life where God should have been. It took courage, but I had to humble myself and ask God to help me put food in its proper place.
I also had to face up to my debt. It was a major stone around my neck. I had accumulated $19,000 in credit card debt because I was also using excessive spending to compensate for my unhappiness, so I had to learn how to manage money properly as well. I took a class on how to manage money from a biblical perspective and set a goal to get out of debt in 5 years, but God provided a means to pay off all of it in 3 years, 11 months. He is awesome!
Where I Am Now
..
I wrote MoneyWise Weight Loss to provide solutions for the barriers we face in losing weight and keeping it off. We cover overcoming emotional overeating, handling stress and temptation, how to eat to lose weight without breaking the bank, preparing quick, tasty meals (with recipes included), adding fun physical activities into your life, and much, much more.
The purpose of Take Back Your Temple is to inspire you to value who you are. For so many years, I didn't do that. I put myself last on my priority list and sometimes I wasn't on the list at all! I've learned that the best way to value yourself is to practice positive health habits. To make sure I never forget that, I remind myself with a bracelet I constantly wear with the words 'Take Back Your Temple' on it.
The human body is worth $45 million dollars. That's important to know because if you see something as valuable, then you take care of it.
As a certified wellness coach and member of the American College of Sports Medicine, I partner with people one-on-one to assist them with their wellness goals, from losing weight to managing stress better. My purpose is to help others get maximum value from themselves so they can get maximum value from their lives. I want to assist others in experiencing the same turnaround in their wellness and weight as I did.

Who I'd like to meet:
I'd like to network with positive, passionate people who strive to bring out the best in themselves so they can give their best to others.
I want to meet others who've tried to lose weight or practice positive health habits but have been frustrated in sticking with these habits consistently. I want to meet people who are tired of short term solutions and are ready to end the struggle once and for all. I want to partner with people who are determined to improve their health, enjoy their life more, and fulfill their God-given purpose.

Your presence is a present to the world. You're unique and one of a kind. Your life can be what you want it to be. Take the days just one at a time.
Count your blessings, not your troubles. You'll make it through whatever comes along. Within you are so many answers. Understand, have courage, be strong.
Don't put limits on yourself. So many dreams are waiting to be realized. Decisions are too important to leave to chance. Reach for your peak, your goal, and your prize.
Nothing wastes more energy than worrying. The longer one carries a problem, the heavier it gets. Don't take things too seriously. Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.
Remember that a little love goes a long way. Remember that a lot ... goes forever. Remember that friendship is a wise investment. Life's treasures are people ... together.
Realize that it's never too late. Do ordinary things in extraordinary ways. Have health and hope and happiness. Take the time to wish upon a star.
And don't ever forget... For even a day... How very special you are.
