dead boys, alive boys who will die, too many hours spent in the graveyard, insomnia, loneliness, zoloft and trazadone, the sleeping girls, alcoholics, self-inflicted loneliness, that whole China thing, Orlando, Dolly Parton, Edgar Allen Poe, Masaru Emoto, Bernie Jones, mom... but most of all, LOVE AND GRATITUDE.
Every song is a dreamy eulogy in this new sleep-scape masterpiece. Kimberly Freeman, more known for her rock and roll band, One-Eyed Doll, sets aside the electric guitar and bares her darker, sadder solo side as she walks you through a pure and honest approach to grieving.
From the orchestral, "Sleep", to the slide guitar, banjo and mandolin-ridden, "Kill Me Please", to the Flamenco-flavored, "Learn to Fly", to the bare-bones guitar and vocal, "Jeremie", this album paints a beautifully textured, haunting picture of Kimberly mysterious past.
Fans of folk, goth, classical, choral and more will cherish every song on this well-rounded, delicate and soulful work of art.
Produced by Jason Rufuss Sewell in Bastrop, Texas and released May 9, 2009 independently by Kimberly Freeman Productions.
"LIVE ON SOUTH CONGRESS" DVD/CD: RELEASED DECEMBER 2008
From within a cement pipe in a closed construction site to inside the after-hours security hallway of an old airfield, videographer David Jr. ellegantly dissolves the boundaries of the typical recording venue to showcase some of the most intimate lyrical moments of songwriter and rock and roll icon Kimberly Freeman's career in her own South Austin, Texas neighborhood.
Acoustic, unplugged and even a cappella at times, this is raw, emotional melody and complete artistic honesty at its core.
Kimberly's well-known lyrical simplicity is mirrored by the minimalist natural camera angles and no-frills capture of a visionary rogue director. The viewer joins the two, sneaking into secret chambers at 4am, kneeling with Kimberly as she sings her stories in places unallowed.
Crickets, buzzing neon lights, water drops and other sounds of the city replace microphones, stages and the usual crowds in these rare acoustic untouched and previously unheard sessions.
