Kimbo in Limbo with ALS over-worked and under-played view more
About me: Blah, blah, blah, so I'm dying, yah, yah. At least that's what the Doctors tell me, but I don't know if they're tellin me the truth. I think I might be getting punk'd or something..... wait a minute! I'm not famous am I?! CRAAAPP! I guess I really am biting it, oh well. But who isn't dying? Really! Just because the thought of death doesn't slap you in the face everyday doesn't mean you're not a day closer to becoming extinct. Everybody is dying, DURRR! But for some reason unknown to me, my body thinks it's a race and it's tryin to get to the finish line as quick as it can!

I was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2002. It's a neuromuscular disease that usually strikes older men, obviously not quite so in my case. What happens is the motor neurons, which carry signals from the brain to the signal cord and from the spinal cord to voluntary muscles, shrivel up and die. I imagine it looking somewhat like the wicked witch’s feet after Dorothy dropped the house on her... Anyway, after the motor neurons give up the ruby slippers, the connection from the spinal cord is lost, leaving the muscles with no signal from the brain and they become useless. All voluntary muscles are affected, causing the loss of speech and movement, choking (from lack of control over the throat), and lung weakness (which is the worst, contributing the most to death). ALS is 100% fatal and as of yet they have not found a cure or any treatments. I am living proof that ALS can strike anyone, no matter your age or gender.

I had a better chance of winning the lottery than getting ALS, WHAT'S UP WIT THAT? haha. I have already lost the use of both my arms, and my left hand. I can't speak intelligibly because my lips and tongue are almost paralyzed. But it does sound really cool when I yell "Baby Ruth?!?!" or "Hey yoouu guuuyysss!!". It's so funny! ......................................................................................................................................................
Since I've become disabled I found a new hobby...I make fun of other handicap people like me. I point and laugh, and say things like, "What up my cripple?" or yell "My chair's better than yours!" or "Wanna race?" and my all time favorite, I'll scream... "FAKER!!". Ok, ok, ok... I don't really do that. But, it'd be really funny if I did! Right? C'mon, I'm right, admit it! ......................................................................................................................................................
How are you doing? Haven't heard much from you lately, hope you are doing reasonably well...
I have been doing alright, my situation has been changing rapidly and I am eager to see what tomorrow will bring. Ironically, although it is a good few months' away at this point, I am eagerly anticipating the 09' walk!
