Born in Saigon, Kim Chapiron began his
career as an illustrator and graphic designer, but after that his interests quickly turned to film. He took a job
as a special-effects editor at a post-production studio in France. His first films, "Paradox perdu",
"Tarubi, L'Arabe Strait" and "The Barbichette"
received numerous nominations and awards (Cannes Film fest, Locarno, Circuito Off
Venice, Wishburg Int Film Fest). In 1995,
He founded an artist collective with fellow director Romain Gavras
called Kourtrajmé.
This incredibly dynamic collective (134 members ! )counts among its members, actor Vincent CASSEL, French rap group La
Caution, Oxmo PUCCINO, and graphic artist Kiki Picasso. "SHEITAN",
Chapiron's debut feature film, was produced by 120 films ( Vincent CASSEL's Production) and features the talent of many of the
group's members. Kim CHAPIRON has just finished the "Sheitan World Tour" (the film was released in 42 countries), he is now working on two new films, "DOG POUND" for PARTIZAN FILMS about the life of 3 kids in a juvenile corectional center in the US and a second feature produced again by 120 Films and La Chauve souris Prod.
