About me:
When I'm not collaborating with David Smay on anthologies celebrating bubblegum music (Bubblegum Music is the Naked Truth) or neglected recorded genius (Lost in the Grooves), I edit Scram, an occasional journal dedicated to rooting out the cashews in the bridge mix of unpopular culture. More Scram info is at http://www.scrammagazine.com.

With Gene Sculatti, I maintain the Catalog of Cool website at http://www.catalog-of-cool.com

Sometimes I throw big parties, like the Scramarama, the Bubblegum Ball and the Bubblegum Achievement Awards. If you'd like to be alerted when the next one is coming, enter your email at the link on the main Scram page.

I lead true crime bus tours around LA and contribute tales of forgotten vice at the 1947project, an historic crime and architecture blog: http://www.1947project.com

I run a stripped-down publicity agency called Explosive PR for artists who can handle their own press inquiries, just need some help with the press releases and media mailing side. http://www.explosivepr.com

I wrote a little book for the 33 1/3 series on Neutral Milk Hotel's "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea."

I just love sourdough toast and bugs.

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff

Oh, Kim! You are an absolute delight! Tell me, are you naturally this charming or did you take lessons?

I am packing my steamer trunk as we speak and am soon to set sail for Londontown! My crystal ball is a little hazy, but it does seem that there is a good chance that we will soon meet and that I will have the heartfelt pleasure of telling your fortune! Could it be true?

In any case, the stars have indicated that we are destined to be fast friends in this lifetime and the next and I have no doubt that they are correct. The thought of this pleases me immensely.

Looking forward to all our future adventures, it is thus I remain very truly yours, &c.
