| General | I'd like to learn how to fly fish, but I'm a little bit afraid of hooking myself in the back of the neck. (Not afraid enough to not try it, of course.) I've only ever fished off boats. Anyone with fly fishing tips, let me know. | | Music | I never touch the stuff. Bad for your teeth. | | Movies | Kite Runner was extraordinary. I can't believe what a good job they did on that film. It may be the one film adaption of a brilliant novel that I've ever seen that actually lived up to the strength of the novel. | | Television | Right now, it's Living Lohan. The best part of that show is that Lindsay—the family's most talented member, who would actually be worth watching on television—refuses to be on the show. How did these people get a TV show? It's an endless source of fascination. It's like anthropological study. | | Books | I've been reading a lot of books about folk music, and am trying to tear myself away to read for non-work-affiliated pleasure. I recently purchased Animal, Vegetable, Mircacle by Barbara Kingsolver, but haven't gotten into it yet. I love Kingsolver. Also love Lahiri, Hosseini, Tan, Eugenides, and all those quiet authors. Also, books about the history of random things (salt, cod, corpses, sugar). | | Heroes | Woody Guthrie, Charles Dickens, Howard Zinn, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, Amy Tan, Mother Jones |
