| About Kim Session - Professional Bass Player |
|
"Kim always lays down a solid groove, consistent and reliable. She's dependable, professional and looks great!! What more could you ask??" says
Tony Franklin (bassist for The Firm, Paul Rodgers, Whitesnake, Jimmy Page, and David Gilmour).
Kim Session has been playing professionally long before her move to Austin, Texas. She began playing bass in Los Angeles and was named "Critics Choice " in the LA Reader and studied intensely with a Berklee scholar. Kim worked at a state of the art recording studio in Los Angeles where the likes of Han Zimmer and Glen Frey and Henry Mancini to Horace Silver did most of their recording which provided great inspiration. She also played a bass playing angel in a major stereo company commercial!
Kim's proudest accomplishment to this date is touring Europe in 2003 with the Voices Of Gospel. This was an all African American group that picked Kim up after seeing her perform in an all African Amercian church that Kim held a steady gig at for two years. The European tour entertained thousands of people and made Kim proud to see this community be treated with the respect they deserved.
Kim currently hosts the Austin Blues Sociey Blues Jam which takes place at Antones on the first Tuesday of every month. She has taught dozens of children and adults the joys of playing the bass for the last 10 years. She has recently performed with Pinetop Perkins and Buddy Miles before his passing.
