Kimya is a distinct singer songwriter from Solihull in the West Midlands. She has created a unique and hypnotic sound by combining elements from her earlier study of classical music, such as Mozart and Rachmaninov, with a mesmarising voice reminisent of Dolly Parton. She has been writing for a number of years and her songs portray poetic charm and intimacy.
Kimya’s talent was recognised by KT Tunstall who hand-picked her as the winner of the 2008 “Shure Creative Songwriting Award”. This has since propelled her into the life of music and study at the ICMP. Here she formed her band, performed at numerous prestiguous London venues whilst developing her sound and generated interest from various record labels, including Warner and Island. Her style has progressed enormously over this short period of time, creating a truly majestic and captivating sound.
Kimya is currently busy rehearsing for her next gig which will be held at “Matter” at the 02 center in London where she will be supporting RCA signed “The New Devices” and the “Dub Pistols”. This is our last gig of the year (we're out of money and have had to retreat to native homelands for home cooking and arguments) so its gonna be a gooden.
