In today's barren musical landscape, where fans settle for the
ordinary and the formulaic, Kindred Souls brings fresh, engaging
songwriting and presents an energetic, visceral live performance.
Their classic rock roots discard the flash of pyrotechnic spectacle
and portray a grit, substance and energy reminiscent of Queen, U2,
or The Who. At a time when the growth of American popular music
has hit a stop-gap, the public ear is primed for the signature songs
of this band.
"It's us. It's got our passion," says Lon Bachrach,
keyboardist for the band Kindred Souls, who are currently in
the studio recording their new CD, to be titled "Social
Ninja." Coming in to co-produce several tracks for the band
is Loren Toolajian of Sandblast Productions, who has done work
previously with a wide range of artists, including Sheryl
Crow, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Mos Def, and T-Bone
Burnett, among others. "This is the first time we have brought
in an outside producer," says singer-songwriter Jeff Rafferty,
"and we are very excited to hear what comes from it. After
self-producing the last two CD's on our own, it is great to
have a fresh perspective, someone who brings a different set
of ears." The band is planning a spring release, and is
working hard to accomplish such. The recording is being done
by "zen"gineer Vince Carducci, at Frankensound Studios in
North Brunswick, New Jersey.
Jeff and Lon are performing and recording with a great band,
which features the considerable talents of bassist Stan
Quincy Adams, Paul Lavenhar on drums, and on guitar the tandem
of Jeff Samet and Ted Heman. They will be taking the next few
months to focus on making the album, and will be performing live
to support it come late February. Look for them soon at a venue
near you. For more on Kindred Souls, please
