The Kind, a Blacksburg based folk-rock band, is familiar to anyone who has passed through the New River Valley in the last twenty one years. Formed in 1986, The Kind plays in a variety of styles that ranges from classic rock, R&B, and jazz to bluegrass and country; however, the arena which they most frequently blend their diverse influences is their huge melting pot of Grateful Dead covers. Over the years, The Kind has been privileged to perform with the likes of Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane & Hot Tuna), Rick Danko (The Band), Merle Saunders (The Jerry Garcia Band), Paul Kantner (Jefferson Airplane), Robin Sylvester (Ratdog), and The New Riders of the Purple Sage. The Kind combines strong lead vocals and harmonies together with intertwining melodies and soulful rhythmic grooves to produce a fun, flowing and danceable experience. They are equally at home in a laid-back acoustic setting or a high-energy electric experience.
My husband is the drummer and recording engineer for two bands. His favorite project has more of a folk rock sound and they have just released their first album. They have a MySpace page where you can check out the tunes and order the CD. I hope you will.
It is a roll away. I am doing my best to bring some life to this bar. The numbers are 1/3 what I left them. Not blaming anyone but the economy fell off and instead of Frank adjusting to help his patrons, he raised door prices and drink prices. I am simply trying to remind people we are here!
Hi, i love music as you can see on my page :-)
I wrote the biography about Janis Joplins first band , they are great musicians and good friends. I play the guitar a bit and love it.

It’s been far too long since I last said hello and so much has happened I thought it about time we did.
We’ve changed a lot, now we are an “UltraModern, post-electro rock, post-nu rave behemoth where Muse and Mansun meet a Massive Attack with Duran Duran pop sensibilities, louder guitars, and a stunning female front person/guitar virtuoso”, or so we have been told.
I’d love to know what you’ve been up to since we disappeared into the dark damp studio cave, let us know how it’s going, I’m always up for a chat! May your thoughts be Scarlet and your actions Blonde ;-) Dawn xx Scarlet/blonde
