<-------------- King Bee's NEW ALBUM "From Here..." ---------------->
This is the first installment of a two part theme album. It draws from several influences namely pink floyd, wilco, the beatles, the black crowes, the beach boys and other bands of the like. The idea was to fuse folk and blues music with story telling from a father to his son. With this soundscape we tried to create a sort of sonic impressionism where the musical ideas all flowed within eachother. We hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as we enjoyed writing and recording it.
Please point out one other South Florida band that is trying to modernize the blues into an aggressive form of psychedelic, experimental rock and roll? Since their inception in 2003, King Bee has earned every inch that the stingy Miami Rock scene has given them and has taken those inches and stretched them into two acclaimed studio albums, one live album, one EP, over 30 notable shows, events, and an award winning and highly acclaimed music video.
King Bee's earlier albums "Only on Good Days" (2003) and From Here... (2006), were well received. In fact, "Only on Good Days" was voted in the Top Ten local releases by Street Magazine (a Miami Herald publication). They are also consistently showered with affection by other local publications such as The New Times and Citylink.
**"Masters of the subtle build-up, hitting their stride with wail-out sessions that creep up faster than you can say crescendo."- Erica Landau The New Times
**"The soundtrack to the sort of junkyard acid trip that leaves people insanely dancing for six hours feeling unclean & achy"-Dan Sweeney Citylink
"Live And It Ain't No Jive" (2004) was recorded live at the Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale while King Bee was opening for the now Nationally celebrated JJ Grey and Mofro. The albums produced between 2003-2006 delve into a more light-hearted side that King Bee is now experimenting away from, as their creative talents have influenced them otherwise. This has led them to a more psychedelic, darker rock and roll that can be clearly identified on their latest, and highly anticipated EP "Howl" due for release November 10, 2009.
Supporting National Acts and organizing highly successful shows is familiar territory for this hardworking group. King Bee's earlier repertoire includes opening for JJ Grey and Mofro, Fishbone, Leon Russel, the Radiators, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Deep Banana Blackout, and the Ska-talites. They have also shared the stage with members of the Lee Boys and the Black Crowes.
Here are a couple reviews of their past shows...
**"Tracks like "Juniper Rose", which adds an AM-radio flange to singer Angel Suarez's already elastic vocals, bring hints of Cream and even psychier influences to bear"-Matt Pierce Splendidezine.com
**"Vocalist Angel Suarez, adroitly combining soul with pop intuition, sings about loss -- loss of grace, loss of security, loss of balance, loss of just about everything. If you're into the Black Crowes -- and can imagine them, say, with a Southern Baptist preacher singing lead -- King Bee will not disappoint."-Rene Alvarez Street Magazine
On the note of hardworking and innovative, King Bee has captivated audiences at the Florida Music Festival by claiming First Place in the Indy Film Jam and caught the attention of NY-based $99 Dollar Music Videos with their breakthrough music video "Down and Crow" (previously named "untitled")
In 2009, King Bee finds themselves playing Orlando more often, in prestigious venues such as The Social, and in Orlando based music festivals Anti-Pop Music Festival and Florida Music Festival alongside prestigious acts such as Minus the Bear, Pete Yorn, YACHT, Filter, Ky-mani Marley, The Antlers, Copeland, and Thomas Wynn and the Believers.
Now 2010 is soon upon us and the question is, "what IS next for these psychedelic, experimental, blues rockers?" Well thankfully, due to the efforts of many emerging Miami indie artists, such as King Bee, the once desolate indie music scene is looking up and King Bee plans to capitalize on the music industry's interest in the tropical paradise. However, the main goal is to descend upon the entire Southeast Region and participate in many prestigious festivals by the release of the highly anticipated, third studio album tentatively titled "The Deer and The Bear".
