Kingfisha are a 5 piece reggae band from Brisbane. They have a wealth of live experience, featuring in some of Brisbane’s most prominent bands over the last five years. They have taken the Jamaican rhythms and infused them with honest songwriting and strong melodies to create their own sound… Honest, Australian Reggae. They began as a studio project with Anthony Forrest, Andrew Stephens and Shannon Green, following the disbandment of dub/electro act ‘Promiscuous’.
In 2008 the live band was formed and they released their debut EP, “Promises”. In the second half of 2008 Kingfisha did a spectacular variety of shows including supporting Katchafire (N.Z), Reggae Town Festival (Cairns), Cairns on Collins Street Festival, Island Vibes Festival (Stradbroke Island) and an East Coast tour.
2009 has seen the band successfully launch their new single “Enough” with shows up and down the East Coast, finishing up in their hometown to a packed house at “The Zoo”. Kingfisha were the Triple J Unearthed feature artist for July, building a nice momentum for the 2010 release of their debut album, which they are currently working on.
Thanks :D Yeah i was actually thinking about changing my style up a bit, make a new sound, mix of 3 genres (HipHop/Electro/Reggae) haha but i dunno that'd be trippy haha as i can Rap but i cant sing for shit haha.

The Lowdown are set to bring the house down at The Joynt once again Friday September 4. This a free entry event and judging from the last couple of shows TLD have done there you best arrive early and in the mood to groove. Music will kick off at 9 with Nicole Mcintyre doing a mellow set of acoustic tunes to ease you into the night. The Lowdown will take the stage around 10 and will be playing an extended set encompassing some new material, freestyles and improvised jams.
Don't miss this as it will be a night to bne remembered.
This is a bound to be a great show.
Come show your support. This may be one of our last Brisbane shows
for a while as we are about to start recording our first full length
album.
